3/4 and can't get into the game. I don't get it. Playing Nance too many minutes.
So Chriss has earned the starting role over Zizic already? Drew can suck it
Drew has to as soon as season is over with entire staff. Zizic should start and if so would easily be a 14/10 player shooting at a high percentage
IMO, I’d would focus on Zizic over Nance period.
Drew said he did it for matchups -- he wanted Zizic against Sabonis because of his size when Sabonis came off the bench.
Of course, Sabonis played 30 minutes and Zizic only 17, so it seems to have been bullshit.
We really gonna freeze Zizic out because we got trash ass Marquese Chriss and Larry Nance. There should be a spot for him even if Drew wants to be a bad coach and play Chriss a lot, but here we are, back to Z getting 15 minutes in a blowout loss
It really doesn't make any sense. The only thing I can think of is the front office wants to make a decision quickly on Chriss. They started Dekker, Jones, Payne, etc to see what they had in them.
I think the front office needs to put a max minutes on Nance of 30 and a minimum minutes for Zizic at 24-28.
was poor today, still better than nance
I feel bad for the kid at this point.
I mean he was 2/3 with 6 and 4 rebounds at the half. I think his performance in the past couple games has more to do with the Team/coach staff's total disinterest in playing to his strengths. It would be better for him if he got traded in the off-season at this point.
no one really shot the ball in the OT's outside of Clarkson
Seems like the coaching staff has put a lot more effort into making sure Chriss is put in positions to succeed than they ever did for zizic. They very rarely feed the post when Zizic switches up with smaller players and that has led to a lot of frustration on his part. Not developing a 22 year old big man with the tools that he has is a waste especially in a year when you are trying to tank. I suspect things will be different next year with a new coaching staff.
Would not trade him. Just bring in competent coaching
After reading this, I realize there could be some method to the madness of not playing or giving enough touches Zizic. Big centers that are as efficient as Zizic on offense tend to get big minutes on bad teams then get a big contract. It usually ends up being a bad contract because as the team gets better they start playing smaller because they are trying to match up with the top teams.
So the front office could actually see Zizic as our future starting center but know once we hit a certain level he is going to be a 24-28 minute player because of how the NBA has been trending. To keep him and make sure he is on a good contract we don't want him to really hit his stride till the end of next season. We want to be able to offer him a reasonable extension and he takes it. We don't want him to get to restricted free agency and he gets huge offer.
Zizic is going to be an efficient good player but his ceiling is fairly limited because of his athleticism. Big minutes and alot of touches will out price us from him or handcuff us because we offer a big contract or matched one. At the end of the day for this team to build the right way we want Zizic on the right contract for the minutes and production he will give on a good team, which might be just 24-28 minutes a game.
