Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Where is their an ample enough sample size of examples for Lue being this way in the 1.5 years he's been head coach?

Pop's been doing the resting technique for over a decade. Since 2008, the Spurs have won 1 Championship. I love Pop. Great coach. Built an amazing culture with the steadfast help of Buford, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan. The partnership and trust he had with Duncan kept everyone in line and the habits he developed as a coach in 21 years built a system.

What I see in regards to Lue are a bunch of people angry that we haven't won a title every year since LeBron came back. To the point where they turn Derrick Williams for example from a molehill to a mountain.

I just do not see evidence, maybe it will come over a longer swath of years, of these crimes against coachdom that Lue has committed.

Especially when in his half year, we won the title and last year we dealt with a half baked bottom half of the roster to start, followed by key injuries, followed by tons of additions and turnover.

All the while, we still made the Finals(to which zero credit is given Lue) and lost to a team that added a top5 MVP player to a historic 73-9 that already had a top5 MVP player, 2 other two way All Stars, and a swiss army knife 6th man.

We made the finals despite of Lue. Look at the regular season. We were losing games at a crazy clip. If it wasn't for INSANE performances by LeBron and Kyrie in 2016 4 straight games in a row and Draymond being suspended a game, we would have lost the finals 3 times in a row. And even then, we won by a hair. As much as you say there isn't evidence with Lue being a terrible coach, you're attributing all of the success to Lue and not the fact that we've severely underperformed in the regular season with 3 of the top 10 players in the Eastern conference, lost easy games to teams that we didn't even need LeBron for, had terrible bench production with LeBron off the floor, ect.

If you can't blame a 16 point difference between LeBron on and off the bench in +/- on the coach, you have to blame it on the players. Who he chose to play. So it's still on him. Also, let's not forget how terrible the defense was. Watching basketball last season was hell. LeBron is not going to want to play at 100% all games all season. Understand why he's in chill mode since it's season 15. But if you can't muster up a single fucking win with Kyrie and Love, you're doing something wrong.

Now, he's still a young coach and I do think he has the ability to change. He's done some good things. His ATO plays are great. But his timeout timing (even in important games) has been awful, rotations poor, defensive strategies lacking, offense with LeBron off the floor shit, and so on.

Was Mike Brown a good enough coach to win 60 games two years in a row? None of the teams outside of Golden State that we have faced in the finals 3 years in a row are anywhere near as good as the teams we faced in the playoffs then. Maybe Toronto two seasons ago. But come on... We have LeBron fucking James on our team and you're still pushing Lue as a good coach when you've watched the games... Seen his dumbfounded looks... Listened to his terrible post game interviews... Seen what he's done with the rotations... Watch the finals we won again. Tell me how many of those baskets were 1 on 1 or fast breaks.... C'mon dude. I've seen you defend Lue so often and it just pains me to think we could have a coach who currently knows how to coach. I'm hoping he can turn it around with LeBron and Wade together. Maybe study some game tape. But to literally play every game like it's against the Warriors by starting Love is already just a poor long term plan. To me, Ty Lue is to coaching what the 3rd quarters were to Mike Brown on the Cavs...

Not his finest hour tonight.

He looks gassed to me.

At the start of the summer, when he began playing for the Celtics, Brad Stevens said he thought Zizic was gassed out from having played the full season in Europe (season apparently ended shortly before Zizic went to the Boston Summer League session). He basically said Zizic needed time off following the Euro season.

He still looks tired to me, or something. He doesn't look at full speed, even though he's obviously no speed merchant. Looks a bit out of sync.

A significant portion of his game seems based on energy, and he just does not seem to have a full gas tank right now, for whatever reason.

Here's the stuff from Brad Stevens. He said this in July.

"He's looking more comfortable every day," Stevens said. "I think he looks gassed, personally. I think that his long year ended (in early June). And he traveled over here the 26th and started practice. I think he'll benefit more from the next month than anybody else on the team."

The good thing for Zizic is that he's probably not going to be playing much.

Hopefully he can rest up and recharge his batteries. I just think he looks like someone who has played too much in a particular period of time. He looks zapped, or something.

I think the game is just fast right now. He isn't used to the pace. I thought the 3rd squad was much better tonight, but still plenty of miscommunication

Zizic is just lumbering out there. Like Shaq and I said, he looks fatigued.

He looks completely different running the floor now than how he looked in Europe... He is usually pretty fast for his size.

Like Shaq said, we need him to recharge his batteries. But I do wonder why he still looks like that.

Can be a common phenomenon shortly after a rookie’s first training camp.

I’m not sure how intense Lue’s training camps are (I remember Byron’s being loaded with conditioning), but Ante has probably done more running in the last ten days than he has at any 10 day point in his life.

Heavy legs are bound to happen. If he still looks like this in a month, then we can ponder.

I tend to think this way. Cedi probably had back spasms for the same reason. They are not used to this level of physicality. They will get in shape

Getting a lot of disagrees about my post on Zizic who I think is going to be great and Lue who I don't think is a good coach yet. But I was right about Rose (so far) while about 95% of you were down on him when he first signed. Similarly I was right about JR not being a throw in but actually the key when he was traded for... So I don't really give a shit about my rating on here since outside of the insiders it's dudes throwing shit at a wall and hoping it sticks.

The conditioning level between Europe and NBA still seems to be big. I remember Milicic (lol) nearly “died” in his first training camp and it still seems to cause problems for euro bigs. Someone like Porzingis plays a lot differently and comes in better suited for the NBA style.

He’s also coming off a national team run. So I’m sure he’s still beat up from that.

Good stuff, thanks!

Got ways to go whether it's conditioning issue or somethng else. Cedi looks more NBA ready right now.

After watching the last two games, I'm getting concerned that he may not be able to overcome his athletic limitations.

Hopefully he can.

We may need to start looking around for another big man who can play this year, though.

Like who? They are all gone. We are out of roster spots and Willie Reed, Withey, Eric Moreland, Dedmon of the world are taken.
We are left with a giant stiff in Tavares and a rookie that isn't ready yet.
