Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The way the team is running there should be 11 if not more guys with some guys just getting a couple of minutes 5-8 just to give our main guys a rest.

The Spurs always seem to play 12 guys during a game.

I wonder if that is how they keep the defense honest? The other teams are constantly scrambling to adjust.

Matt Bonner hit 2 3's get him out of there and give Diaw a run.

Yeah, I think it makes a lot of sense especially because I think Ante can play for sure as a backup and might look good with Kevin and LeBron and a couple shooters. Kevin seems to play better with a traditional 5

If you use the Game Log feature of BasketballReference.com, you'll see that the Spurs were playing no more than 8-9 guys rotation minutes per game. In the blowouts, maybe 2-3 more guys would get in for 3-4 minutes at the end of the game.

It didn't happen. They played a tight 8-9 man rotation per game. If it was a massive early blowout, they would stretch it a little bit. A late game blowout, a couple guys would get in the final 5 minutes.

The reason is SEEMS like they had 12 players all averaging 12+ minutes every game is because most of their main guys played between 63-74 games. But on a per game basis, Pop uses a 8-9 man rotations

Reference:
Kawhi: 74
Aldridge: 72
Manu: 69
Green: 68
Gasol: 64
Parker: 63

Well, I didn't say it was a scientific sample.

It seems most Spurs games I do watch are blow-outs though...

However, if you have the personnel, why not play 10 guys a game? Run different looks. Show the enemy something new every time. Run big, run small. Run Death Lineup 2.5.

A lot of it is going to depend on how the starts and main rotation players do. If they are able to play hard and get leads it will allow us to get more into the bench. We also can only have 13 active on game day. So two players are going to be inactive no matter what, liking at our roster who do you think will get most of those? IT will be one until he comes back, but one of Cedi or Ante will most likely always be the other inactive unless someone is hurt or gets a night off. The only way to develop them is if we plan on resting players a lot or we have injurys.

I think the hope is that the team plays well enough that we can rest starters and rotational players through the year and not miss a beat.

I think the physicality and energy it takes to guard opposing centers will not bode well for Love offensively. Its like a QB, when they get hit enough times, they typically lose accuracy. Theres a reason most all centers dont shoot from 3.

I dont think Love will stay at the 5 very long.

i don't hate this, it's intriguing
Yeah it's just something new I
figured I'd throw out there. Like you I don't like starting Love at the 5. Zizic is a big, strong body and he has some skill. He looked good in preseason when he wasn't playing with Felder. He plays mean. I'm intrigued by what he'd look like with the starters.

If this thread is any indication, quite a few of you are in for a rude awakening in regards to Zizic and Osman's minutes.

Those two guys are both firmly on the third string and that ain't changing unless guys get hurt.

We're aware. It's still fun to talk about the possibilities even though they aren't likely to happen.

What if Zizic fills the Andy Varejao-sized hole in LeBron James' heart?
