Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
why is he reporting to the Boston Globe? is he the last double agent or something? suspicious.

Regardless, it's good to hear whether he back stabs us or not.

It appears that the Globe followed up with him when the Cavs visited Boston since he was the last player on the Cavs' roster remaining from the trade. May have taken them a few days to publish it, but I doubt it was considered a hugely important story (and there were probably a lot of negative, grousing stories after the beatdown the Cavs delivered).

Fans liked him and many of the Boston fans still regret trading him. They like his long term prospects.

Fans never saw him play. They liked him from summer league??

They liked the idea of him. “They” liked the idea. Don’t ask for specifics!

His numbers are good from Europe, he is very young, and he is playing well in the gleague. He is a good rebounder and that usually translates.

There are reasons to be optimistic.

this guy sucks.

everytime he does get in the game he is slow and cannot do anything good

It varies from person to person, but some people don't reach physical maturity until the age of 28. We may want to wait a few years before we try and judge what we have. Can't do too much about his speed but his strength and coratintion should improve, along with experience.

Celtics had and have a problem at C when it comes to height and the boards. Horford is the only halfway decent rebounder they have. So the idea of a guy who could grab boards and develop as a center with some range was intriguing. Know they weren't hoping to rely on Baynes like they have.

What? Sure, they had a problem with rebounds before this season, but they don't have a problem now with Baynes, Monroe and Theis. The are currently ranked 5th in the league in total rebounds and 1st in Defensive rebounds.

Horford is their worst rebounder... certainly not their best one as you should know that simply because TT's value and contract came by dominating him.

I know that the Celtics liked the idea of having Ante Zizic when he was willing in the Adriatic and Euroleague, but they were disappointed with him in the Summer League and had no big reservations after the trade.

I'd also like to add that I very much think Zizic has a role in this league(at the very least) and for the Cavs... the fact that he looks slow has no bearing.

Didn't make an argument from a team perspective. I said they have a problem a C. Horford is their top rebounder. He averages 7.7. They then have a group of guys around 5 per game. Cavs have two guys better than Horford on the boards and four guys better than anyone other than Horford on the Celtics.

Boston is actually tied for 10th in rebounds if we look at per game averages and not totals that don't account for a different number of games played. They are 20th in offensive rebounds, a place they had hoped Zizic would help.

Granted, Boston is in better shape than we are right now, though I think the new players may have an impact in improving the Cavs' rebounding numbers overall.

Though I think most Boston fans would have liked to see Zizic grow in Boston. I doubt they had high expectations for this year and many are not certain Kyrie will stay in Boston. There's even been some speculation about him asking for a trade this year if the Celtics can't get past the Cavs. Not sure there, but if LeBron stays in Cleveland and Boston can't get over the hump over the next two years, I'm not sure he doesn't go somewhere else (Lakers?).

Ofcourse he averages the most rebounds... he plays by far the most amount of minutes out of every big in their rotation.

I really don't think Stevens would have played Zizic over anyone in the PF/C rotation as he likes to have spacing, but also knows that they need Baynes and Theis defense and rebounding... Zizic doesn't provide at this point in time better alternative as far as spacing, defense and rebounding(this is questionable as we have yet to see him for 36 minutes).

I think the Celtics problem is really not rebounding, but creating offense and shooting other than Kyrie.

Beyond this, I don't know what to tell you about how they would have liked to see him grow in Boston or their uncertainty as far as Kyrie staying on not. This seems like a reach, that unless you are close to their FO or other spots channels.

I mean, Celtics have tons of assets to improve beyond this year... there is no reason to think he would ask for a trade, I mean literally none. At worst he is going to finish the rest of his contract. Asking for a trade on a contender right after asking for a trade on the Cavs is a disaster PR wise and career wise, and he literally has no reason to ask for one.

Zizic had another nice night in the G-League. Doesn't mean a lot, but 30 minutes, 26 points on 12-17 shooting, 13 rebounds (5 offensive), and 1 block. Negative +/-, though that had more to do with him being in late when the game was well in hand. They were up by 23 at the end of the 3rd. Zizic scored the first 8 points for the Charge.

Turnovers are a problem he needs to fix. Did some nice things and he has grown since I last watched him in the G-League a while ago.

Can't wait for tomorrow. Watched the Canton game tonight to get some kind of a basketball fix. It's been rough waiting for over a week.

He looked great. He continues to show improvement. Looks way quicker and swifter in his moves, more decisive and he continues to show great touch and diversity attacking down low.
