Theoretically Ante Zizic

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
My bad , he was tied for 2nd . Thanks for pointing that out ..

Yup. TT led the last three postseasons in total offensive rebounds, but that was mostly due to him having the chance to play in more games. He's never led the playoffs in ORPG or ORB%.

TT did have a major skill set , he lead the league in ORB’s which greatly helped the team with 2nd chances opportunity’s . He couldn’t score worth a shit but he greatly helped with overall team efficiency. His P n R defense was also in the top 10%. So yeah , TT had 2 major skill sets during the year the Cavs won a title .

He wasn't in the top 10% as a PnR Defender...not even close.

In 2015-2016(His best defensive year) he was in the 34th Percentile as a PnR Roll Man Defender and in the 70th Percentile as a PnR Ball Handler (Big Defender).
As a switch defender in 2015-2016 he was in the 47th Percentile.

TT is probably one of the most overrated defensive players in the last few years.

His Oreb had very little impact compared to a guy like Zizic. He just didn't generate a high .PPP as an offensive rebounder because of his own basketball limitations.(Was in the 45th Percentile and generated 1.04 .PPP). His 2nd most dominant playstyle was scoring off of Cuts(Only in the 33rd Percentile at 1.12 .PPP).

Zizic scores 1.667 .PPP as a Roll Man (99th Percentile), scores 1.32 .PPP as a Cutter (60th Percentile), scores 1.8 .PPP on Put Backs (100th Percentile)

I'm not even going to go into details about TT this season as far as defensive impact goes. Worst big in the NBA on that end. in the fucking 0 Percentile as a switch defender. Enough said.

This year TT doesn’t even qualify as a practice squad body . To take away his impact during the year the Cavs won the title is a little self serving .

i'm not taking away anyone's impact. I'm just stating facts. He wasn't a top PnR Defender.

In the Playoffs that year his stats were even worse. Much worse.

In the 24th Percentile as a PnR Ball Handler (Big Defender)

In the 29th Percentile as a switch defender and in the 30th Percentile as an Isolation defender in general.

Was bad all over the court really, bad at contesting jump shots and bad defending the rim.

Pretty crazy that the Cavs won a championship without a legit Center and basically almost playing 4 on 5.

I'm curious...what's the source the for those numbers, and is that for all players, or just centers?

Synergy subscription. And it's for all players.

Perimeter players wouldn't have any plays as a PnR Ball Handler (Big Defender) or Defensive switch derived from PnR switch. They would have very limited numbers of possessions as a Roll man defender.

I can provide the numbers for every starting center in the league for the same year to form some sort of a median value.

I do think it would be important to compare his numbers to other centers. And perimeter players may very well find themselves in a switch, or otherwise caught up in a PNR and taking the ball handler.

I'm not a TT fan, but you have to compare apples to apples.

Yeah, not sure about the Gasol thing. Gasol had a touch on his jump shots well before he developed his three point shot, really from the moment he entered the league -- in his very first year he was shooting 40%+ on mid-range jumpers and took a reasonable number of attempts from there. Zizic has barely taken a single shot from outside of 10 feet this year. Gasol also has a couple of inches in height on Zizic and seems considerably more fluid in the way he moves (although part of that can be b-ball IQ in terms of defensive positioning).

Of course Gasol was 24 when he entered the league so who knows, I didn't see him before then. Agree that Zizic's floor if he's used right seems to be like a 12/12 guy on high efficiency with solid D who doesn't make a lot of mistakes. That's a good player to have!

If you look at Zizic shoot jumpers he definitely has a mid-range shot. It looks super fluid. Not sure why we haven't set up a few pick and pop plays for him with LeBron but I feel like there are 0 plays in our playbook actually drawn for him.

Only a handful of guys are so accurate from midrange that it makes sense to intentionally draw up plays to get them midrange jumpers. For everyone else, it's a last resort when the designed play doesn't produce a higher-percentage look.

I do like Zizic's chances of eventually extending his range out to the 3-point line, at which point that jumpshot would become very valuable. A few years away probably, at least, but a lot of big guys have done it with less natural shooting talent than Zizic has already shown.

Zizic is 21 years old. Hell, he probably isn't even finished growing let alone filling out into his full adult body. I'm glad to see he's growing out his spotty scraggly little beard. For such a young guy his hairline indicates that the Gortat look might be in his future which is apt because Gortat is probably Zizic's floor.

Cedi is 22 years old. The floor for both of these guys is at a minimum being solid NBA rotation players. The ceilings ae unknown but they don't have to even be all-star level to be valuable contributors.

Honestly just keep giving him minutes. There’s the 7 footer we wanted.

Decent defender
Decent shot blocker
Highly efficient interior scorer
Solid passer
Real basketball IQ

Not the quickest but not a lead foot either.

I’d be happy as hell starting him against the warriors. He will make Love and Lebron look so much better. Plus it allows Nance to be a super sub...

We talked about robin Lopez or some other guy-this is all that we need. We just have to play him more....
