Farewell, Richard Jefferson.

Why are we forcing this guy to play basketball when he just wants to audition for his post-NBA career?

It's really his decision. It might even help us if we trade him with Frye and then they both retire, haha.

I don't get it...we're trading 2 guys AND 2 picks for 2 guys who will never come over? I guess the 2 2nd rounders are worth $12.8mil in tax savings.

Salute to RJ for everything he did for us. His role on the Championship team was vital and he played it at a high level. Without him, the curse still lives.
Yup. I'm going to miss him.

I wonder if there are protections on those picks.

We also needed the to get the roster down to 15 gt contracts. Could not have more than that.

Trade rather than cut due to the 13M in savings.

With Ante, Cedi, Nets pick, and our own 2018 1st for the type of team we are, we're well stocked with young pieces for the next 1-2 years.

Zero chance he’s moving to Cleveland full time.

As much as he loves SoCal

He either goes there or NY. He really wants to get into broadcasting. I could also see him signing with the Lakers for a year. He’s friends with luke and Luke’s been trying to get him to join them.

Yeah, in an ideal world for RJ, who spends a lot of time Manhattan Beach CA, he'd latch on with the Lakers or Clippers in a media capacity. With his friend Luke coaching the Lakers, that may be something that can get done. Now or later if he still wants to play this year.

Lakers are pretty full roster wise, but could see him trying to get into the media side or a year of coaching/advising with the Lakers while he continues to build out his podcast, pick up some part time tv gigs, and then get a fulltime media gig next year.
