Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We also need our vet PG to not turn the ball over something like 7 times in the 4th quarter and OT. His play tonight was totally bipolar.

Lue said he ran out of gas. He pretty played the entire 2nd half since Felder got hurt. 46 minutes in all after not playing much.

I thought he played a great game, and I sit here now wondering why the Cavs could not survive 5-6 minutes every game with him out there and thus keeping James's minutes more reasonable. If he were expected to be a playmaker like tonight and not just out there lobbing the ball to Lebron and heading over to the corner... As it pertains to Deron Williams, the games up until tonight were completely wasted by the coaching staff.

Not to toot my own horn but i said exactly this yesterday. Whatever role Deron Williams needs to take on initially in games, let him figure it out. Last night his aggressiveness on the offensive end, particularly his mid-range game, opened up a lot for Frye on the PnR. Aside from Irving and LBJ, he is the only other guy on this team that can set up his own shot. He still possesses elite offensive skills (while they may look a step slower) yet our "chill mode" has made him look pedestrian.

The sad thing is that lineups with him and LBJ should (keyword) look great offensively if LBJ would just play off-the-ball. Get him some back door action and call it a day. Perhaps another wrinkle we are withholding until the playoffs.

Tyrone Lue: "I see where you're coming from but we will continue to use him strictly as a floor spacer for Kyrie plus Lebron lineups because reasons".

Yeah, it's a moot point if Lue is as dumb as some posters think he is. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt until the playoffs start.

I will say that the game he had last night made Lue look every bit as incompetent as it appears to us lowly fans. In fact I have a suspicion that Deron was pretty motivated to send a message to our head stooge of a coach that he's been wildly misused and wasted. Him floating in corners watching Kyrie do his thing is the absolute height of idiocy by our coach. I know that in order to get Deron sufficient minutes he will continue to play with Kyrie some - but make Ky the off guard in those situations. Not the primary. It's truly not that difficult.

Give me a break. The fatass was exhausted.
He played almost perfect game up until the 4th quarter in which he made a 4 point play. You really can't blame him for his play because he was dead.

I'm certain Deron is misused and he should play without LBJ. He needs to feel like a floor general. When you surround him with better players that need the ball in their hands he is just going to shy away from action, he is going to pass up shots because he feels like the better shooters should take the shots. When you make him feel like the alpha male and not like an afterthought he looks pretty good for a backup PG.

Watching him play yesterday really cemented my belief that he is being misused. He needs the ball in his hands. He looked like a completely different player and until he got exhausted (thanks Lue) he was leading us in playing the most effective ball I have ever seen us play without Lebron and Kyrie.

Playing him with Lebron and Kyrie both is terrible. I do think it would be possible to play him well with Lebron if Lebron accepts a role off the ball, which would give him more rest.

This guy is totally basketballaphobic. It's surely not that hard to play with a bit of poise and control, is it? Limit your damn turnovers, man!

Him and shump combine to form the poorest ballhandling backcourt in the NBA

I said this in the game thread, but I think we should be putting Deron on Lance. I think he has the size to stop him from bullying his way inside and he was aggressive on both ends today. If he plays that aggressively, he should be getting more than 10 minutes as long as he plays defense. If he can keep the offense going like he has the past few games, he can be a big plus for us this series.

would be surprised if Born ready doesn't start next game. they need his size. Monte/Teague just too small to switch screens/picks

Good point, plus LeBron basically just played center field on defense since Monta can't hit a shot.

This would be a good move. He put LeBron under pressure on defense too. Not afraid to go right at him and knows how to use his body to get space.

Like Northstar said, LeBron basically took the night off on defense just laying way back on Monta Ellis.

Though Deron had a good game. Nothing flashy (Except that sick crossover) but did a solid job.

noticed he slipped up a couple times and actually fought around screen & played defense, wondered if he'd lost his mind [/snark]
