Welcome Deron Williams

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wonder if we could pull off a sign and trade to package him and get Delly back? In all seriousness, wouldn't he fit in better there, where they need his offensive potential? We need a 3 and D backup PG.

We need moves like this. I'd love this trade. Unfortunately, these sorts of sign and trades come up every year as ideas, and I rarely ever see them completed.

I see no reason to keep Deron based on his performance (or lack of performance) especially when the stakes were highest. Plus I get the feeling that he never developed any chemistry with the Cavs team. I bet he leaves and I hope I'm right.

He wasn't even good during the season, and he was just awful in the Finals. Honestly, you could have probably picked up a late round/free agent rookie (not Felder, I mean someone over 4' tall) and gotten the same out of them. We desperately need guys that will play defense and/or make shots. Deron Williams does neither. I see no reason to bring him back, even if all he wants is the minimum.

Super disappointed in him. I never thought he was very good. he had like 4-5 good games

Also how I feel.. it's why I can excuse Korver on one hand and not Deron in the other. Korver still put forth the necessary effort on defense even if he wasn't shooting well. Deron had zero intensity.. not a care in the world, from all appearances. Really surprised it didn't work but.. it didn't.

Same. Except I'm not surprised at all. Never cared for him as a player- zero heart, care, Intensity to him.

We don't need a guy like that. Can't believe anyone would want this guy on a contending team, especially after this year.

Don't see any reason for us to show him the door. Korver and Deron weren't big in the Finals, but; these guys fill a useful need to get through the regular season.

If they'll cost less than $10M combined; I see no reason to send them packing.
Agreed on Korver... Deron depends on if the Cavs see a sixth-man backup PG as a need. I, frankly, do, and do not think Deron is good enough to fill that role. If the Cavs think they just need someone to run the PnR with LeBron when Kyrie sits, though, then Deron is beyond applicable.

He was constantly around Lebron, Kyrie & Channing and often doing yoga just he & Lebron.

Im torn on Dwill. We scrapped him up when literally no one was available. I think he can be serviceable if two things happen: 1) we actually run a semblance of an offense, 2) he is here during training camp.

The guy is still getting paid $5.5 mil for the next 3 seasons from Brooklyn. So our check would just be a subsidy in addition to that. So he wouldnt be sacrificing a ton to stay here. Had he balled out, we would be looking at an entirely different situation where he could get paid. I still think he has value, but I don't see anyone blowing his mind that he would be worth going to. Especially not if he wants to compete. Break him off a piece of the MLE and call it a day.

Just be sure to save a piece to get that extra year for Cedi.

At the time of the signing Deron made perfect sense. But now after seeing him in action for the Cavs there should be absolutely no reason why we should bring him back for any reason. Any GM worth his salt needs to be able to find a better back-up point guard than him off the scrap heap especially with the entire off season to get it done. We need someone who can defend with a little length and quickness, and who can facilitate the offense, and preferably someone who is a lot hungrier than Deron appears to be.

In the end, someone has to play minutes. If Deron Williams wants to take veteran minimum, we can't do much better in terms of 4th ball handlers.
