Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kyrie shot 50.5% from 2 last year, Rose shot 48.7% from 2, plus Kyrie has a deadly 3-point shot and Rose has no 3-point shot. So Kyrie is better from 2 and in another world from 3, which is why Kyrie was 41st in the league in eFG% last year while Rose was 101st in the league.

So while I agree with you that Rose was surprisingly efficient from 2 last year, he's just not in Kyrie's league as a scorer.

DRose is a great pickup for the minimum for us. I hope we're not counting on him to replace Kyrie though.
What other choice do we have if we trade Kyrie?

Unless we get back a great PG back Rose is our guy

Maybe his knees are healed by the supernatural and he returns to MVP form and signs a discounted contract for 3 years with the Cavs...lol

A surprising amount of these criticisms could also have been applied to Kyrie :chuckle:

They will plant any seed they can to make a player look worse and another look better for no reason. Many factors go into both. Rose could look Better with LeBron, and Kyrie might player better in Boston that aside they both will never lead a team to anything. As much as I love KI... He does not have that drive in him. Rose if motivated and IT do, that is the thing here.

I wish we could put IT's brain and heart inside Rose's body.

Since that isn't possible all I can do is hope and even assume that Rose is going to be the best possible version of himself because 1) the entire future of his remaining NBA career and all his future earning power depend on it, and 2) playing with Lebron will help.

Guys playing for a contract tend to play their best ball. That's Rose this year.

Not expecting much from this guy

yeah, the current incarnation of Derrick Rose is one of the very worst PGs in the league. His assist percentage last year was 22.7% (compare Kyrie at 29.7%), he shot less than 22% from deep and hasn't hit 30% from 3-point range in three years, and he seemed unwilling to defend.

I'll be happy if we get something from him but fear the worst. I see a fair amount of yelling from Lebron coming up.

We are in deep shit at PG this season, you'll see. If IT is as injured as he appears to be it's possible that Calderon will be our best option at starting PG.

Thankfully the point guard position is the least important on an lbj led team

Kyrie could really shoot though and he had by far the best mid range game in the NBA.

I do think some of Rose's short comings in New York can be fixed.

In the right environment he can be a plus defender, absolutely better than Kyrie.

He can also be a more willing passer in the right scheme. He will never be Chris Paul but he can be better on the margin.

But he will Never ever shoot it like Kyrie. That's for sure!
