Jeff Green: Old

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I keep thinking how green is so bad but then I remember how good Derek Williams looked next to Lebron. That gives me hope for green as I would pit him above Williams

I do not think Green is bad he just never played on a team that had him in a role. He was always traded to be the guy. Rose and Green if they can at least become close to what they were or should have been these are two huge reward Signings. Green can play hustle D and if he cares he is better than he shows. I liked the signing very much but of course everyone here hates everything anymore so I did not bother to even try to explain why.

And once a talented player is pegged as being unmotivated there's never any chance that can improve, is there?

Any chance his health issues may have had an effect on his aggressiveness and confidence at various points of his career?
Sure, there's a chance...but he's been in the league 10 years. Its not like he's some new guy.

I don't think he needs to be a new guy to be effective. In a more limited role with more limited shots and a commitment to Defense he can be exactly what we need. He doesn't need to completely transform, but a little dedication like JR showed would go a long way.

I agree...just saying Green never lived up to his potential as a star player in this league like everyone thought he would and that it wasn't because he didn't have the talent. He very well may prosper as a backup on a championship level team.

FFS. He's been in the league 10 years but 5 years ago he had his chest cracked open, probably the most traumatic surgery someone in his position can have, right in the middle of his career.

You don't suppose the heart problem might have had an effect before it was discovered? You don't think his stamina might not have been affected? You don't think going through that surgery had a long lasting effect afterwards?

I'd argue it could easily take 3,4,5 years to pull yourself together from that operation when it comes to returning to NBA level performance. You seem oblivious.

I've never followed the guy very closely but looking at his career in the rear view mirror I find it amazing he's still in the league, and he's apparently still a pretty solid physical specimen. I would bet he had serious confidence issues and rightfully so but now that he's had 5 years where he's been on the court and hasn't keeled over he might be about ready to get past that.

He's here on a vet minimum and he's been known to show flashes of high level play throughout his career. Seems like the rap on him is he doesn't sustain it over the longer term but even when he sucks he isn't horrible.

Is anyone concerned that we haven't heard the yearly off-season "Jeff Green is in the best shape of his life. Has been working on his jump shot and is ready to take the next step" tweet yet?

@mds

I never really followed math but I know the reasoning behind solutions. Basically no offense to the guy he knows very little. I know what Jeff Green and always will be and guess what he will be our AI off the bench. He can dunk and play D and shoot the three. AI was a fake star player aka media hyped who got all the attention till he was on GS bench. If Green is ready to work his ass off he can be our AI, I like the moves the Cavs are doing.

That said I am warming up to Bledsoe and an unprotected pick aka Chriss or Bender as an option. I would hold out for JJ and no or protected pick though. Green with rookie JJ and all the experience would help him greatly. The Suns by far have the best pieces to put next to a Jeff Green In any inspired mode. I am excited for Green to see what he can do along side LeBron and Rose alone.

We all had them. Then forgot about it like 5 min later when you get in the car to go to work.

You know what you forget about anything or everything? Most of the shit you do unless it prompts you to come back. Until we see Green we can not make these assumptions because we have no idea how he will play along LeBron. Watching sports and doing real life work are two different things. So you should forget everything when going to work just not how bad a player "was" really this place is losing its mind.
