Needs to shoot a lot better in the finals next year. I am kind of surprised Cavs resigned him, maybe they feel they need him just in case vs teams like Boston.
Cavs re-signed him because all in all he’s a pretty good role player who has value around the league and we actually had his bird rights. Re-signing him was essential, because we had no way of signing anyone else close to his caliber. On our end we didn’t have much of a choice.

Korver is a very good regular season player- gets open looks, knocks them down, can play 20 mins a night.

good signing.

Have you noticed how teams guard this guy, they are scared to death of leaving him open.

Yeah he didn't shoot well in the finals, but he only missed like 1-3 open looks. They guarded him very tightly.

In the last few games it really looked like the Warriors were unable to defend the Cavs, but they kept them from shooting the 3 which they are the best at in the league, and in the end 3 is worth more than 2. So it didn't matter how often the Cavs got to the basket when Durant can just bomb from 3 and shoot over good contests.

Yeah it's too bad. The missed shot from the corner in Game 3 probably would've sealed the game. Oh well, I'm happy to have Korver back. One of the best shooters in NBA history.

There was another open one in game 5 that they just went on a tear after. I feel like that one was big too.

I'm somewhat hopeful that a full regular season with the Cavs to build better chemistry with his teammates could make him better in next year's finals. But that hope is offset by his advanced age and the fact that he disappeared every year we played Atlanta in the playoffs.

I know we had no choice but to bring him back, there was no way in hell we were going to upgrade over him, but I'm still pretty meh about resigning him.

Here's the thing with Korver.

Even if he doesn't hit shots, he is a great decoy to have because Warriors won't just sag off him like they do with Shump, TT and RJ to a lesser extent. Allows more room for LeBron and Kyrie to do their work.

I do think he has to shoot better and he will imo after getting accomodated with the offense after pre-season and all. But, we as a team, and especially Lue has to do a better job of getting Korver involved and run plays for him. When we first signed him, we tried too hard to run plays for him. But we realized it wasn't going to work straight away. So, we just went away from him and played like we normally do. Which was the right decision. But this pre-season, we should focus more on running plays for Korver and even JR and Kyrie to come off screens and shoot.

I know, offense wasn't our issue. But, the good thing for us is, I still feel our offense can be even better.

I've seen it said quite often that our offense wasn't our issue. Statistically that may be true but in a very real sense it hurt us more than stats would indicate.

In our losses we had serious problems with taking care of the ball and the Warriors devastated us off our turnovers and mistakes. For us to ever have a chance to beat them we can not allow them to force us into turning the ball over, and we absolutely can not gift them with unforced errors the way we did far too often in the finals.

The other way our offense let us down was with poor, low percentage shots that missed and turned into fast breaks and early offensive opportunities for them, with one or more of our players lagging behind. Our offense must be able to generate cleaner, higher percentage looks at the basket. When our offense was bogging down we ended up with a lot of very poor looks.

These things were carry overs from our extremely lazy regular season play. We did not play the regular season with purpose, we just stumbled our way through. This team needs to work on making itself into a well functioning machine during the regular season. Last year far too often we played like a bunch of bums waiting for Lebron or Kyrie to bail us out.

I really believe this team can beat the Warriors regardless of how we fill out the bottom end of the roster. But to do so we need to work on becoming more like the Spurs and the Warriors in making solid, fundamental smart team play into a habit and a norm.

Tony Allen alone would fix this or some of it and Crawford would be a great piece as well. They need on more lock down defender to match up and adding another create your own shot sniper is the cherry on top. I really wish we could flip Shump for Melo or another just flat out a defender if not Melo. Korver is average at defense that leaves him okay to play and given more time with the team he could be better all around. I think the defense is internal more than the players and I mean we need a new scheme rather than swarming more so against GS.

I totally agree with this. But if we are going to be playing full go in the regular season to hone our team offense and defense, we are going to have to get Lebron a lot more rest. It is absolutely imperative that we bring in a legit young wing who can score to give Lebron long breaks. Shabazz Muhammad would be a perfect fit with part of the MLE.

Yea Korver was a guy we needed to get back. Good bench player that gives it his all, works hard and is a true professional. Takes care of himself well and I believe he'll improve a ton with a full year on the team. Lebron has a lot of respect for
him and he's a good first piece for the retool. Compared to some of the contracts being thrown around, Kyle is a bargain. Now if we could just get melo and a few other solid guys for scraps....boy wouldn't that be nice.

One of the key parts to what I think needs to happen is having our team learn to play much better with Lebron resting on the bench. Every other good team in the league has rotation players who can hold their own as a unit when the stars take a breather or even sit out a whole game. I know this because we've had role players beat our starters more times than I'd like to admit so we all know it can be done with good coaching and team play.

I do lay a lot of this at the feet of Lue. We need to improve our team play with the big 3 all being on board with different groups of players all being able to win their minutes on the floor when Lebron and even Kyrie are sitting.

As far as who we add to the bottom third of our rotation I just hope we go for 2 way guys with length if available and willing to come here for minimal $$$. I don't have high expectations of landing those types but it would be nice. More likely we'll end up with less optimal guys so to me the guys already on the roster better be ready to adjust how they play as a team and step up their game.

The entire goal of this offseason IMO is to find a way for LBJ to rest and not lose leads and games in the process.
The best fix that's possible is Melo on a buyout- he takes LBJ's spot while he's resting.

I agree. I think our coaching turned us down more than our roster to be honest. I just cant understand how we are so reliant on Lebron and how we can have an offense that turns the ball over so much considering some of the great ball handlers we had on our roster last year.
