I mean, I still disagree 100%. I'm not going to dispute some arbitrary number like +/- 10 plays for Korver.

But do I think we should run plays for one of the best shooters in the league in the finals? Yes--assuming he is integrated and fits with our rotations by the time the playoffs arrive. How many? Fuck, I don't know. I bet if Lue were asked, he'd say it would be a game to game decision.
The volume of the plays is the only thing I'm arguing. But to each his own. I'll just go ahead and guarantee this volume is a recipe for losing when it matters.

No. Love is an All-NBA player. Kyle Korver is a role player. Trying to compare them is wrong.

Again, I don't give a shit about these regular season games. I've made that stance clear in various threads.

If you think we're winning anything running 10+ plays a game in The Finals for Korver you're kidding yourself. This isn't perennial All-Star Ray Allen, or Kevin Love. This is a role player. A 35 year old one at that. You don't waste so many possessions revolving your offense around a role player unless you want to lose. Period.
I don't think the idea is to run ten plays for Korver in the playoffs, though. Look at the info about why the big three played yesterday. The answer was so that we could test ourselves against the best team while initiating Korver more into the offense.

Lue is running this amount of plays - which I agree is too many - for Korver so that he feels comfortable in the offense and the team feels comfortable with him in the offense come playoff time. This is important, because outside of LeBron, it looks like everyone is unsure of how to work with Korver. He's a very unique player and it is going to take time.

Now, if we do this in the postseason, then I'll have a big problem and be standing right next to you complaining about this. But, to my eye, it seems like a strategy to teach Korver the offense and teach our guys how to work with Korver more than any serious offensive gameplan.

What recipe? There is no recipe. You are taking our regular season experimentation and suggesting that it will be bad for the playoffs. Do you honestly think that we will do the same thing in the playoffs? Of course we won't.

The reason we are doing it right now is obvious: we need to learn how to play with Korver. Also, we are doing it because he's one of the best shooters in the NBA.

So, will we run plays for Korver in the playoffs? Yes. It would be dumb not to. Will we force feed him in the playoffs? No. That would also be stupid.

This all just seems so obvious. I don't see what the problem is.

This is all I'm saying :chuckle:

This is no different than saying not to play <insert role player name here> more than 5-8 minutes a night. The team won't be giving Liggins 20 or 25 minutes and expecting to win playoff games, so why should they do it now?

Because it builds skills, depth, comfort level, and can help a team discover new things that COULD help win playoff games.

Maybe Lue wanted to get some game tapes on how GS defends certain looks with Korver?

That Channing/Korver screen game and all the different wrinkles we can run with it...

I mean God damn. It's already filthy

Also this dudes defense was massively undersold when he came here

Really active hands and keeps his man in front of him. A lot quicker than I though too. Been very happy with him on defense

I can co-sign his quick active large hands.

Korver was -12 On/Off in 2015-2016 in Atlanta and now he is -16 in Cle.. Can someone explain this? Kinda disappointing.

Tiny sample. Not worthy of a comparison...at all.

Yeah, I expect it to go up. But his sample size in Atlanta was more than enough, and I hope it's not a case of the old "yet again the Cavs got a shooter on the decline". I love him though so I'm biased but I'm afraid he might not move the needle when it matters.

One thing I would note is he has played a lot of his minutes (over 33%) with an all-bench lineup featuring none of Kyrie, LeBron, or Love. That puts him in a position that is arguably bound to be unsuccessful, especially when it comes to +/- and/or net rating stats.

I would say give it a month or so before we fully judge the Korver deal. He has a very unique game and the Cavs have a very unique offense. This adjustment will take time. I'm with you, though, I think it'll work out very well in the end.
