What is Rep Power?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What the hizzy is with those green and yellow bubbles? Why are Lee, Jigo and I are triple rowed (besides the fact I'm the bees knees) when Wine and Gold is neither a mod nor a rep simpleton like I am, yet he is double rowed. I don't understand this bubble voo doo. 'Splain, Infante... for the people.

It's simple.

The more bubbles, the cooler you are.:gap::thumbup:

I'm not cool:mad:

It does not even give me a box to check off in the login and privacy options. I mean for reputation.

Hello,

I am kind of new to this reputation thing. So when people think my post is good, then they click thanks or do they click the little dark person above the post reply button?

What is the difference between that and thanks?

If I think someone's post is good, then should I thank them or just click the little man above the post reply button?

How often should I thank someone or click the man?

Thank you

Clicking on thanks adds to the original poster's "thanks total", which contributes to rep power.

Clicking the person icon gives the original poster your "full rep" (calculated from your rep power, and it's a total that gets increasingly larger as time goes by). It's a way to thank someone anonymously and also a way to reward them with far more rep points (as you accrue them).

Most people who "thank" use the thank button. For great posts (or anonymous thanks), RCFers use the person icon.

Many, perhaps most, posters could care less about thanking or being thanked.

But there is one important rule in all of this. camakazee is fiercely desperate to keep his rep points low and has begged that no one thank his posts. Furthermore, if you thank him, the points you think you're giving him actually get subtracted from your own rep power. So, definitely avoid thanking him. Whatever you do.

Other than that, you are good to go.

Sarcasm is not your strong point, is it, young grasshopper?

Here's a little fun thing to do. Do you enjoy a certain member's posts? Give them credit by voting on their reputations. As each member gets more votes, their reputations get higher.

To enable your reputation voting,

-User Cp
--Edit Options
---Login & Privacy
----Check (Show My Reputation Level)
-----Viola

To vote on someone's reputation:

Click the
reputation.gif
Icon under their avatar.

Your Rep Power is the amount of points on which you hand out to each member when voting.

Your rep score can be found in your User CP along with member's comments about your post.

Enjoy.

I don't have a "Show My Reputation Level" checkbox under my Login & Privacy section?
"Use Invisible Mode" and "Allow vCard Download" are the only 2 options...

I also do not see this
reputation.gif
icon anywhere, on any page, for any user?...

That would be cus' Glens initial post about this was in 2005 when he was using a much more prehistoric version of the VBulletin software. I'm sure there have been several upgrades since then.

Duh...

I guess I should have looked at the dates. Thanks...

The design has changed since then so those descriptions are very out dated.

To see your total rep score, you can just click on your user panel and it's on the red bar right above your rep comments.
