What quick rebuild would you sell to LeBron?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sign and trade for PG13 means we have to stay under the apron. If it's a opt in and trade then we don't have to stay under the apron.

I think the apron will be around ~129 million next year.

I also believe that the NBA will make up some new rule if we opt in and trade for PG13. Just like the buy out rule about players can't come back to their original team after being traded. Z was the last one to do that, I expect the league owners to gang up if we get PG13 from an opt in and trade.

We dont need a sign and trade if George opts in

Same thing houston did w cp3. He opted in and they traded him.

FWIW bro, Reddit is wrong (and often is)...

If the Cavs send out $8M more in salary than they currently have on the books, they'll be below the apron. So for PG13 in an S&T, Cavs could send Love+Korver or Hill+Smith+Cedi as an example.

For Batum and Kemba, Cavs could send out ~$46M in salary so Hill+Smith+Clarkson makes a great deal of sense in a trade like that.

So if you sent out Love, Korver, Hill, Smith, and Clarkson while taking back George, Kemba, and Batum you're roughly -$11.5M in salary, and definitely below the apron.

You can then open up an addition $14M in cap space by stretch waiving Batum, to go -$25.5M.

So for the exact numbers, if the Cavs did the outlined trade here, they'd end up at $126.38M in salary, and with roster holds they'd be at ~$128.5M or effectively $500k short of the apron -- and that's before waiving Batum.

If they waive Batum, they'd be at $113.08M, which is $15.9M short of the apron, and well below the tax line. Cavs could use the MLE and still be below the tax.

Reddit is wrong because george can just opt into the last year of his contract and get traded. Dont even need to go further than that.

If he opts in, George gives up $10M in the process and OKC gains leverage after June 30th since George would have already picked up is option. That's why we're talking about sign-and-trades.

I think the best moves we can make to keep Lebron are to try and pull off these moves. Let me know what you guys think.

1) Trade JR Smith and #8 pick for Kemba Walker. I feel this is very realistic since Kemba will most likely be moved this offseason. The #8 pick is good value for him. If they want us to take Marvin Williams demand they take George Hill.

2) Trade Kevin Love to Memphis for Chandler Parsons and pick #4. I feel this is very realistic since Memphis is already exploring #4 pick and Parsons packages. They get an All Star in Love and unload Parsons terrible contract.

3) Trade Pick #4, Tristan and Cedi for Kawai Leonard. This one is more of a long shot, but San Antonio would have to consider given the state of relationship with Kawai, plus they are getting back solid value in the #4 pick, a young and promising player in Cedi and Tristan as a throw in (who might work good next to Aldridge).

4) Buy out Parsons

5) Recruit Cousin to join the team on a deep discounted 1 year “prove your health & play for a championship” deal. If he pans out we will find a way to retain him along with the core. With the right pitch from Lebron, Kemba, Kawai I don’t know why they couldn’t convince him to join something special. He may only have to sacrafic 1 season of deeply reduced pay.

6) Sign Danny Green to the vet minimum.

Starters next year: Kemba Walker, Danny Green, Kawai Leonard, LBJ, Cousins.

Key bench: Hill, Clarkson, Korver, Green, Nance, Zizic.

It’s a stretch but imaging that team! If this team didn’t beat the Warriors I would be shocked.

One of the biggest selling points to him would be that the Cavs could be in a really really good position salary cap wise one summer from now. It's easy to focus on just this next season, but if LeBrons looking at the last few years of his prime, the Cavs salary cap situation after this season will likely be very appealing.

We are not getting there with Love ,I like him but hes not athletic enough ,he gives all he has but hes really not that great of a shot anyhow. Trade him ,get rid of TT ,JR ,even if u buy them out they are trash .WE need a center .Play ZIZIC

Wait until the offer a boatload to Rodney Hood...

That would be awesome! Do you think we can land D.J in a trade were we swap picks with the clippers?

Cleveland gets D.J 12 and 13 clippers get 8 T.T korver Clarkson
We then trade love for P.G
After that we package 13 and j.r for a deal to get kemba
With the 12th pick draft sexton or Mikael bridges

Kemba/sexton
P.G/hood or bridges
Lebron/cedi
Vet green again?/nance

Jordan/zizic/nance
why not bypass the Kemba trade and go sexton and bridges at 12 and 13

That would be up to lebron because he'd probably want the allstar vet. With the recent developments I now think the cavs should make a strong push at landing kawhi, and by this I mean including the kitchen sink if it got that trade done

getting leonard will not get us another ring.
Still have no guard play unless you want to burden LBJ with being the PG.

George Hill is not the answer, maybe as a back-up
We have no reliable snipers....JR and Korver are done. Korver is ok regular season but comes up short in the playoffs, especially vs GS

Still have no rim protector.

Give away the kitchen sink and you have next to nothing left to add snipers, a PG and rim protector

if possible, trade love for Parsons and #4

Add 4 & 8 to cedi, zizic and nance and start the rebuild. Let LBJ do what he wants at this point.

if he wants LA, do the sign and trade for Ball. I would be ok adding ball to the the youngsters above.

Still got love to trade for assets, young players or picks
Still got expirings in Korver and JR to trade for more assets.

Hit the picks right and we have a quick rebuild

Paul George opts in and Love for Paul George happens..

Cavs trade #8, Cedi, Tristan, and Hill for Kawhi.

Cavs:

PG - Ty Lue or anyone who will just pass
SG - Paul George
SF - Kawhi
PF - LeBron
C - Nance

Domination.

At least we know if Lue plays PG that he'll be aggressive.

though I want Hood to stay, I hope they don't go too far above the qualifying offer. His Finals performance was commendable compared to the rest of the playoffs, but this is one point @ which I hope the Cavs (and other teams) show some discipline.

I don't know if I trust this team with finding talent through the draft, giving the number of busts we picked. I mean we drafted T.T with a 4th pick and don't get me started with Bennet. Before LeBron came back things looked bleak, even with Kyrie Irving.

As far as Ball goes, we don't need that headache in Cleveland trust me. Cleveland is not a glamour city, it is a hardworking blue-collar city. Can you imagine the media antics and drama that would come with the ball circus, if they came to a small market city? and to top it off he hasn't done anything on the court to warrant the attention IMO.

The reason I said to go all in on Kawhi is that he is only 26, that's young enough to build a team around even if LeBron doesn't stay. Imo lebron + kawhi makes us a serious threat to beat the warriors, given that both players almost beat them by themselves.
