It's funny you've mentioned that, Hue was on a talk show and talk is cheap but he said something along the lines of understanding to playing to players strengths and how it's something they have to do to bring out the best effective play. Then he went on to mentioning why he brought in Haley because he's one of the better OCs in the league. He's going to let him have 100% reigns and expects improvement.
So one of the most frustrating parts of last season was Hue’s refusal to make things easier fo Kizer

Time and time again when asked he said he isn’t going to cut down the play book or call plays to get him easy throws just because he’s a rookie

Like why the fuck not Hue? Basically every team commits to bringing rookies along slowly and pairing them with a reliable run game but Hue viewed it as some sort of insult or personal challenge to Kizer to basically, I don’t know, I guess not be a rookie?

Hopefully we actually value the career of Baker and don’t just pretend he isn’t a rookie and don’t make things easy on him when he does play

Fear not, everyone

The head coach who miraculously wasn’t fired after going 1-31 over two seasons has now determined that he wasn’t playing to the strengths of his players and that will now change.

Lol, go to the other forum and let's talk about Tomlin

I understand what you’re saying, but with Todd Haley’s arrival and supposed full control of the offense I guess I don’t share your mentality.

Unless you’re assuming that Hue is lying about actually allowing Haley to control the offense, I think the things that a fan could criticize now would be 1) Gregg Williams’ coaching of the defense 2) Todd Haley’s coaching of the offense and 3) Hue Jackson’s game management and overall leadership.

Something that you guys are missing is they weren’t trying to win last year. From ownership to coaching they had a goal of getting the first pick. Not even kidding

I didn't want to have to do this, but for people acting like everyone knew last year was a mail it in year and people pretending like a QB isn't crowned pretty much every year as the best QB since the return, here is a sample from after the Steelers game last year when Kizer was annointed the same

I took snippets of most of these quotes. It's not meant to individually come after anyone quoted. Pretty much just showing that collectively this board is extremely over optimistic on all things Browns. And it happens every year. There are actually similar posts like this for Kessler and RG3!

Bolding is mine

Kizer will be a stud
This year is gonna be fun.
Since everyone wants to give a hot take....

Browns defense is top 5 in the NFL.

Kizer showed me enough to have A TON of hope.

Browns are the 2nd best team in the AFCN.
Kiser is easily the best QB we've had since the Browns return, easily, and that's after his first professional game. People saying he was bad/disappointing is baffling to me. What were you expecting? I think he played as well as you could of hoped. He didn't make a ton of bad decisions and kill any chance his team had of winning. Yeah he held onto the ball too long, but he's a 21 year old inexperienced QB, that's pretty much to be expected.

I think he showed a lot of signs, I'm pretty much sold, I think he's the guy. Of course he's got to get a lot better, but I think he will.
Kizer is for real. The defense is for real.
Kizer is fucking legit
Kizer forced their hand by cleaning up his weaknesses so quickly. He's a special talent, no matter what the stats tell you, for suiting up in game 1.
Eh, what QB has looked like Kizer has so far? Sample size is small but he's doing things out there that quite frankly we've never seen. Other QBs had sparce "moments" but none of them made throws like Kizer makes.

Also, you just saw significant improvement. Game 1 was a better performance than any game all last season for the Browns.

I love him. So does Hue. So should you. He's the one, brethren. I suggest you open your eyes and enjoy watching him develop this year. He will be here a long time.

Literally the only one who was right after that game was the oi

Lawn looks great!

And you guys don't have to say it

I know I've assumed the role of Rich of the Browns board. I can't help it. I used to be an eternal Browns optimist too. They broke me.

1) My comment might not have aged well, but at least I put my balls out on the table about it.

2) You took mine out of context. I’m pretty sure if you read the whole quote.... in the sentence before and after, I also mentioned wanting to dip him in bronze and ship him to the Hall of Fame.

3) If you count “a long time” as a year, then I fuckin’ nailed it.

#NoRegrets

How was I supposed to know the gods were gonna reach down and rob him of his talent after a single game?

Some guys don’t get their moment. Some guys get moments that last for years.

DeShone, that son of a bitch, his moment was but a glimmer in time against a division rival.

Stop taking asshole posting style lessons from b00bie. You are better than this.

I can't imagine how long it took you to find a post where I complimented Kizer. I think I did it one other time during the first Steelers game if you want to keep digging.

Don't blame yourself. You were right about Kizer. You just neglected to consider the Hue Factor - the power to turn everything he touches into utter shit.

Damn, lol.

Kizer did giveth and taketh though, he had flashes of some series talent, then he'd just throw it all away in one throw.

But this current team definitely provides more reason to be optimistic, we used all of our draft picks and had a very good free agency for once.

But, hey, I was wrong about Kizer being a stud. He still has a career to finish in GB.
