Where do the Raptors go from here ?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Casey fired.

I don't get it, there's nothing he could have done. The players just aren't good enough.

If they bring back that same team with a new coach, they'd be making a mistake. Just wasting time.

Well... It has begun.. this is ridiculous though.. he is an amazing coach who just led the team to the best record in franchise history! It’s not his fault he runs into the greatest player of all time in the playoffs every season.. can we fire Lue and hire Casey right now? Lol just kidding.. maybe

He put CJ freaking Miles on Kevin Love.

Casey was doing quite well with player development, imo. Made some mistakes in the series, sure. But he had a brick wall in round 2 just like we are going to hit if we are fortunate enough to reach the finals.

@gourimoko iirc in another thread stated Casey was trying to do what Indiana did, which was put athletic wings on Kevin. It worked for Indiana. It didn't work for Toronto. There wasn't much more Casey could've done. He changed the starting lineup, benched his second best player [which resulted in a comeback run], etc., the man was trying. LeBron's just a brick wall.

And I don't want to hear anything about not playing Val. Toronto wasn't going to outscore us with Kevin at the five.

Now they're interested in Bud. They go from "we don't want to be the 2014-2015 Atlanta Hawks" to "we are literally interested in the same coach that coached the 2014-2015 Atlanta Hawks".

That's the thing... he did everything he could have done... We were shooting lights out... LeBron's teammates stepped up, particularly Kevin Love, which made doubling LeBron difficult if not impossible considering Hill was healthy, and Korver and Love were always just one pass away...

People also forget that you can't double off the ball after it's been inbound. On many possessions, you were seeing James inbound the ball, then stepping on the floor and taking possession in the front-court. This was to prevent the Raptors from denying him the ball in the same way we were doing to DeRozan, who is NOT a ball-handler/point-player in the same way that LeBron is.

OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam played all of one minute together. He did not do everything he could have done.

I still don't think he should have been fired.

Siakam was one of the wings Casey tried on Kevin though. Kevin had that game three third quarter mini-run while LeBron sat with Siakam as one of his defenders.

If Casey had to be faulted, it was expecting too much from Ibaka. But he benched Ibaka too.

Did somebody order a new look Raptors?!

Next year is their year!!!

...so you are saying their is a chance Lue gets fired?

Casey got scapegoated and I don’t suspect that he will be out of work for long. Ujiri needs to be shown the door, along with DeRozan and Ibaka. I’m on the fence about Lowry, as he at least showed up for a game in this series. Just seems like that vaunted backcourt completely chokes against the Cavs.

Seriously though, Casey’s not the one that decided to pay Ibaka $20 million this year so he could average a little less than 9 ppg and completely disappear in the Cavs series.

Such a baffling contract: Ibaka best rebounding % was his rookie year and by far his best block % was in his 3rd year. Both of them have dropped every year since considerably to pedestrian numbers. These numbers are fair approximation of athletic ability for a big and they went down like a rock before he got to ORL. It was obvious either he got hurt, got off peds, or is lot older then he claims to be
