Think about this...

Steph Curry takes 2+ more FGA per game than Russell Westbrook.
Klay Thompson averages 17 FGA per game and is efficient, at 60% true shooting pct and most importantly; almost all of that is off screens and catch and shoots (less than 3 dribbles) - in other words, he doesn't require anything but motion and screens, you don't need to isolate him and stop your offense.

If Durant signs there long-term, what is Steve Kerr's incentive to make Kevin Durant the primary, or even secondary scoring option?

I get it, it's Durant, he'd be the best player on the team... But their system is gone if he gets his 19.2 attempts per game playing the same familiar style he's played his entire career.

Keep in mind, Steph Curry and Klay and Draymond all played in a traditional basketball system with lots of isolation plays under Marc Jackson. Those guys thrive in SSOL Suns' basketball under Kerr... Adding Durant may break their synergy, unless he's willing to play as they do, in a role that he's never had before.

And if he's going to make the Kevin Love sacrifice, then he'll never be considered an MVP caliber player ever again because his stats won't reflect his potential.

Beyond all of that; why flush $50M down the drain to ring chase and be second or even third banana on offense?

If he really desperately wants out of OKC, why not go to the Wizards?

It's just ... such a long-shot.

Lastly, keep in mind. If he leaves in free agency today, whatever team that receives him (unless via trade) won't have his Bird rights. Meaning, he can't do a 1+1 year deal with that team, opt out next year, and get a better deal under the higher cap unless that team can fit him completely under the cap.

So, again, it's really difficult seeing him leaving this year. But I agree, he'll likely bounce next off-season.

I think you're right. He's either going to stick out another year in OKC (and then can either sign up long term or fuck off if Russ goes to LA) or goes to the East (BOS, WAS, and MIA all make sense for different reasons).

I just can't see him going to GS after battling them tough this year and how terrible it will look.

I think he stays in OKC.

It would make him look like a MAJOR bitch to go to GS. I would never think of him the same.

That said, who they hell knows...

Maybe he goes to the Spurs. That move wouldn't look quite as bad, given they beat the Spurs.

A big three of Aldridge, Leonard, and Durant is definitely scary. But as gour mention, there's a lot of money at stake.

I don't know Durant, or what he values, so it is hard to determine what a guy will do.

And it is not like OKC is a horrible place. I think they must do something about their two-guard situation. If I'm Durant. I at least see what OKC does too, or has in plan. I'm sure that's part of his thought process.

But I think it is safe to say Durant has at least entertain leaving them. Maybe he won't though.

If they add a good two-guard, they are a much, much, better team. Roberson and Waiters might be the worst 2 guard tandem in the league. It's going to be hard to beat GS and us when they are such a major liability.

You'd need to trade Kevin Love or Kyrie Irving to make that happen.

I would trade Kevin Love for Kevin Durant in a heartbeat, you just can't turn down on a top 3 NBA talent like that, but I can't see this happening so keeping our core is probably the best option

I don't know Durant, or what he values, so it is hard to determine what a guy will do.

Durant just said a day ago that he doesn't care about the market, endorsements ect, all he cares about is what kind of people he plays with & hangs out with everyday.

Is it possible for us to do a sign and trade, I thought KLove and Westbrook were good friends. It might be something to help keep Russ there?

Not to mention he can dominate the ball more so without Durant and be a triple double machine.

If I'm the Cavs I at the very least try to get a sit down with Durant. The worst he can do is say no. And I'd have to think that Oklahoma would be lucky to get a player like Love out of the bargain as opposed to losing Durant for nothing, which is what they'd get if he goes anywhere else.

It wouldn't be a terrible deal for Love, either. He got his title and no one can ever take that from him, and he'd be getting traded to another team with a top five/ten NBA player in Westbrook that would likely still be competing in the West. He could do a hell of a lot worse.

While this in theory would be pretty good for both teams, I don' believe that the Cavs can receive a player via S&T since they are over the cap. I know they can S&T one of their own players, but not sure about the reverse. Maybe someone else can expand on that.

I think it's the apron they have to worry about, not the cap. I believe as long as they are below it when the trade is completed, they are fine.

Yeah... That's interesting. Like you said, Durant would have to say he wanted to be traded to the Cavs for this to happen. Ibaka, Westbrook, and Love would be an interesting trio. Lots of floor spacing for Westbrook.

Guessing they'd trade Kanter in that situation? He'd actually be a good fit in Boston. Damn, OKC has to be really regretting giving that contact out right now. They potentially could have freed up enough room to sign Whiteside or Batum this offseason without that Kanter deal.

I feel like if Durant wanted to whore himself out for a ring he'd just sooner sign with GSW than come to Cleveland.

If he truly wanted to leave and was interested in "building" something with a fellow superstar, I think New Orleans would be a very attractive destination. Durant and Davis could be terrifying with the right pieces around them.

Not that it really matters though...he's staying in OKC.

Lebron called him up and had a face to face and said he'd want to be the third wheel and be the anchor that focuses on defense, assists, rebounds, and then points......you never know.

With GS he'd have to share shots with a big 3...Curry, Klay, and Draymond. Here it would be 2, in reality I don't think Lebron is wants to score 40.

I think Lebron be happiest avg. 18-21, 10, and 10 while playing suffocating d. I really think he could do it while playing high effiency ball only shooting no more than 14-15 times per game.
