Who is your second nba team?

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Don't have a second team right now. I'll probably start watching the T'Wolves though.

Cavs were not my team growing up, I'm born and raised a couple hours south of Chicago, so I was a Bulls fan. Was also a fan of the run and gun Suns. LeBron brought me to the Cavs.

I don't have a second team in general, but I normally have one I'll follow each season. Whatever roster I find the most intriguing. Generally it's a young up and coming team.

So like last year I started out watching a lot of Magic games, and then they went downhill. This year I'm going to tune into a good amount of Wolves and Bucks games at the start.

With all due respect to the OP and to everyone posting in this thread, having a 2nd team to me is like having a 2nd spouse.

That having been said there have been teams I respected for their character, playing style and watchability. I liked the Gary Payton-Shawn Kemp Sonics teams. I admired the mid-90's Rockets teams for the artistry of Hakeem and their overall toughness and resilience. I loved watching the early 2000's Kings and the Allan Iverson 76ers. And I genuinely enjoyed seeing Dirk and the Mavericks get a ring in 2011.

And up until the last couple of years I enjoyed the Warriors. They have had high-scoring, entertaining teams going back to the Run-TMC days, they've had great fans and they've got a great name ("Golden State Warriors" is one of the coolest team names in sports, IMO.) Even now, while I don't like them I do think they're a fun team to watch strictly from a fan's stanpoint.

I have never rooted for a second team in any sport.

I rooted against the LeBron Heat teams and rooted against the Warriors all year last year and will continue to do so.

But I can't get into any other teams. I support Cleveland teams because I support the city. There's no emotional attachments to any other city, so I can't get into any other teams.

Lakers. lived in LA at various times in my life and Magic was always my favorite

I get a lot of free tickets to the Hawks, so I guess Atlanta.

MLB - Cardinals
NFL - Colts and Packers
NCAA FB - Whoever is playing Michigan
NBA - Dallas....and this was true before 2011.

Shameful. Stern and Silver can gobble 10,000 knobs. What happened to the Sonics and Seattle is akin to Modell winning completely.

Apart from that, the Wolves. I've lived in some good cities and I count Seattle and Minneapolis as the best (was born in Cleveland and spent much time there).

Never really had one because @GreasySpread36 and @The Oi reasons, but gun to my head today? The OKC Thunder and any Cavs fan knows why.

Also relevant, I already loved Russell Westbrook but he's now my favorite non-Cav by far. That was awesome what he did for those fans. I'll be a fan of his forever.

Man can put the hurt on a rim too... Sorry I cant embed

I don't have a second team but if I had to get league pass for another team it would be the timberwolves due to their talent and potential. Really all cavs fans should also follow the nets as they are only a semih Erdan away from have a former cavs starting 5. Lest we forget

Real fans don't have second teams.

Having said that, I'll confess to wearing Eagles jerseys when my wife & I go see the Eagles play - partially because she's a typical psychotic Eagles fan and partly because the team is in the other conference and so I don't feel like a traitor.

I would have worn my Jim Houston jersey to the Browns game in Philly Week 1 but we will be on vacation that day. Too bad because that game is a total trap game for Philly.

Don't get the real fans don't have second teams. Nothing wrong with sticking around and watching the 2nd game of a double header because you like a system or coach or player. You don't have to exactly be rooting for them.

Yeah, as someone who watches 20+ NBA games every week, I don't see the problem having a second team you really like to watch. The Thunder are my "second team" because I really, really love watching Westbrook play and their roster is young and exciting.

I feel like a lot of "real fans don't have second team" guys (not all, especially on here, I'm not trying to call people out) simply only watch the Cavs. They are Cavs fans and not NBA fans. That's fine, but it also does not mean having a "second team" makes you any less of a fan.

My second team used to be the Warriors, back when they were legitimate underdog darlings who could score 110 points a game and give up at least that much on defense. It was fun to watch an up and coming team while the Cavs were mired in awfulness following The Decision.

Now, I definitely pull for the Wolves. They're going to surprise a lot of people soon. Oh, and the Spurs.

I definitely don't get emotionally invested in any team, but if I had to pick a second favorite, it would be the Blazers. I have always loved their uniforms, but it probably goes back to the days of the Jailblazers. Just a bunch of misfits playing basketball - Damon Stoudamire, Rasheed, Zach Randolph, Darius Miles...then they followed it up with Brandon Roy and one of my favorite players in the NBA, LaMarcus Aldridge. Now they have turned into a young, exciting team with Lillard and McCollum. I think I just love their perpetual mediocrity.
