I can't believe they didn't explore us taking on Deng. That is a huge fucking favor for them and I don't see why we wouldn't do that for at least a 1st rd pick. Maybe throw in Josh Hart or Wagner.
They're gonna have to sacrifice a lot more than that to move Deng. If they get off of Deng's money then they can sign Cousins to a 1-yr deal at $20+
It makes zero sense to me.

They may still. I just don't see LA giving away much nor the Cavs being willing to take back much contract. and LA has to hold tight on trading too many assets given that they are still in the Leonard race.
I'd actually engage LA about Love and or Korver along with Lebron. Maybe Hill too. Maybe that can get you Ingram or Kuzma (if you are also eating Deng). Those guys would all be useful to LA this year, you could help James get his full max and maybe net some assets.

Why wouldn't he want to take the money he is making off of projects in LA AND take a sign and trade? It wouldn't take much for the Cavs to agree. Plus, he is going to lose even more thanks to California's hilarious income tax %.

Because he would lose assets on the team. And in the Kawhi race they need everything they can keep..They need them to improve the team like I said earlier.

There's no chance in hell the Spurs take back Deng in any scenario of a Kawhi trade. If I'm the Lakers, I just hang on to Ingram and Kuzma and let Kawhi sign there next season. If they're smart they'll keep Randle at $12M and use him + KCP to match salary in a Kawhi trade, but that is the most I would give up ...maybe I'd include Hart/Wagner and a future 1st.
Eventually when they know Kawhi is healthy and KCP is eligible to be traded, they should offer KCP + Randle + Hart/Wagner + Future 1st for Kawhi
I honestly think Cousins would sign there on the cheap for $18M if they can get off of Deng.
