Wild Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
People treat Wine & Gold's comments the same way they treat LeBron's comments on re-signing :chuckles:

Hate to be the dampener but..

CP3 is going to the team that will take Emeka Okafurs contract also, while reducing Hornets payroll by 15-20. I think that would leave the Cavs in a situation where they couldn't sign Lebron.

If they got CP3/Okafor, they could still sign Lebron to a max because due to the CBA, they are the only team that can sign a max and offer him the most money

You're allowed to exceed the salary cap to re-sign your own players. This wouldn't be an issue.

If the Cavs do make a trade tonight, what are the chances we actually hear about it in the draft?

I suppose if any players are involved, it will probably be announced, but if we just buy a pick, we may not know that a team just drafted for us.

I am starting to think all of us will be disapointent, mostly all the cavfanatics though, since they live in a fantasy world.

I would be disappointed regardless. We NEED to make a move to get younger and more talented, especially at center.

Tonight may very well set the path of the franchise for the next 3-5 years

no one has still explained to me why this guy's posts mean anything? granted i've only read these forums since about the halfway point last yr/amare trade rumor area, but i've never seen him post 1 thing that was correct

I posted this in Cavs Talk but I'll post it here too..

What I don't understand is the idea that tonight is the "make or break night" for the franchise. If we wanted to use all of our assets on Monta Ellis or on Al Jefferson, I'm sure we probably could, but would that really change anything?

I'm not saying that the Cavaliers don't need to hit a home run to keep LeBron, they need to make at least one good move, but I think they're lining up to take a swing at Chris Bosh in a sign and trade, and if they're doing that I can only imagine that they are at least having some open dialogue with LeBron's people because a little bit of tampering/ under the table collaboration is going to be necessary between Bosh and LeBron to make that happen.

The best possible moves available are still a few weeks away from truly being realistic.

We are waiting for a Bosh trade and that won't happen until later. Today, I expect us to just to buy a late 1st rounder and if we can't, we will probably buy one in the 2nd round. Alot of other teams will be making big trades though.

Some research on your part would probably help you realize that this community really holds W&G in high regard, and instead of piling on you like many surely would/will do, I'll give you my view of it, as I'm sure there are many others lurking around presently who are new to this board given tonight's upcoming draft who would like to know about W&G.

W&G is basically this board's resident insider (although I'm sure the mods have access to a fair amount of inside info themselves). He's not officially connected with the organization, but knows many within, and has been able to provide RCF with the mindset of the organization regarding trades, drafts, free agency, etc. Granted, not everything he says comes to fruition, but that's to be expected because not everything discussed in a basketball front office plays out completely.

I think RCF is a better place because of him, and I'll leave the rest up to you.

Thank you for making sense. Finally.

I would love a good young player in this draft as much as anyone. But people are saying this is a "make or break night" for the franchise. Really?

You do something if it makes sense tonight. No forcing. The real game begins on July 1st when we can talk to Bosh, Amare, etc. I don't see us making a blockbuster until some of those dominoes fall.

What are the draw backs to Al Jefferson besides the knee injury. He came back from it quickly and played well, not exactly up to where he was before but still his skill level at that position is the type of guy we need.

Perhaps, but tonight is probably the 2nd biggest day of moves in the NBA other than July 1st and the Cavaliers desperately need to get young talent.

I'm not saying they should go all out and get Al Jefferson or Monta Ellis. I am saying that the Cavaliers need to make a substantial move to improve their future of the franchise. I'd be saying this even if we had LeBron under contract, because the future of this team is garbage. It is JJ and....

The Cavaliers NEED to get a higher pick and an elite young talent. We have only had one since the franchise inception, which is probably why we have 0 titles. I'm not saying that we need to sell the entire franchise down for a top 5 pick, but we need to make some sort of move for a top 20 pick.
