Wild Speculation

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I do know in the environments of sign and trades, as thing stand now we have enough to land Bosh if he collaborates with James to come here. Without the collaboration, having a top 10 pick won't change our chances at landing him.

I disagree. Only Toronto can get Bosh to Cleveland, and he's not coming unless we make it worth their while. It's also unlikely that Bosh would limit his options to the Cavs or bust, and as long as there are other options, there's competition.

But the bottom line is that's a passive move. We need to be building our case for LeBron to stay, not trying to sell him on a plan of action if he decides to come. Every team courting him will be trying to do that. For instance, Chicago would love to sign LeBron and then S&T for Bosh.

Can they put Toronto over the barrel too and make them accept Deng and Hinrich? I'm sure Chicago would love that as it would free up cap space for them to spend on more players, but if I'm Toronto I wouldn't take those guys on.

If you want to trade for an all-star and don't want to give one up ... you need a lottery pick, you need promising young players, and you need salary cap relief. If we have the assets we can make something happen - whether it's with Toronto, New Orleans, Phoenix, or whoever. If we don't then it's out of our hands, and all we can do at that point is hope to catch a break.

Not that long ago it was expected the Cavs would challenge for and hopefully win a title, and that everyone would want to come back to try again, but that's fallen to pieces. We've lost our coach. We've lost our GM. It seems unlikely that Shaq will return, and our center position is a mess. LeBron knows Dan Gilbert is a pro-active owner and will do his best, but he's been doing that for 5 years now and rather than the team building to a crescendo it seems to be in need of re-building.

We've got a serious mess on our hands and unless Gi&G start cleaning up that mess pronto, I really don't like our chances of retaining James - and frankly we don't deserve to.

Even if nothing goes down, I'm sure we'll have a pitch for what he hope to do to improve the team; but like I said, everyone else will too.

Just wanted to bump this back near the top to make it easier to find W&G and any posts he may make.:chuckles:
