I'm no expert at this, but wouldn't turning off signatures and .gifs help this site run a bit smoother at times when traffic is booming?

I know I've seen some humungous signatures that have pictures or .gifs in them and also some avatars that are .gif based..

I could be off base, but just putting it out there...
