Windhorst Radio Show & Updates

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Link for today's Hey Windy show added to post #2225

It would have to be a trade centered around Shump.

If we did....
Shump + Liggins (don't know his contract for next season) for Delly and Thon Maker, I'd be down.

Whoa they are not giving up Maker for anything less than a allstar or close to that player

Now that we are past trade deadline i do beleive it was mentioned somewhere that delly was available at the trade deadline. Cavs just didnt have the ammo to get him back

Can someone tell me when Hey Windy airs? They changed it to Saturday, then Wednesday, and now I don't even know.

Has ESPN canned it with their recent house-cleaning?

* (talking Hawks debacle)
* Team's defensive habits will bring it down.
* When the Cavs lose games, it's because they can't get defensive stops.
* Lue has chosen to be "calm-tempered guy" on the bench, and players appreciate this.
* Lue is at least somewhat responsible for team having bad defensive habits.
* Lue has not been able to hold team accountable for defensive issues this year.
* I think, in retrospect, Lue wishes he had called out team for defensive issues earlier in the season.
* It's now "too late" to change Cavs' bad defensive habits.
* Bench is giving Cavs nothing right now.
* Iman Shumpert has been "terrible."
* Because bench has been poor, Lue has gone with starters longer.
* Bad defensive habits is the issue for the Cavs.
* Warriors are a disciplined defensive team, unlike Cavs.
* Cavs should still take care of business in the East.
* (Liggins waived talk and Liggins replacement talk)
* Derrick Williams is not the "answer," but he is a live body (maybe use him more).
* Dahntay Jones punched Biyombo in the groin and had 2 good minutes against Warriors. Those were his contributions in playoffs last year.
* I'm concerned about age and lack of athleticism on the roster.
* Iman Shumpert "is so bad right now. He's so bad right now."
* Shumpert cannot stay in front of his man on defense.
* Shumpert's shooting has been horrible recently.
* Shumpert's inability to stay in front of his man is killing Cavs on defense.
* JR Smith also has bad defensive habits right now. Not in sync on defense right now.
* You may see Shumpert benched more (as Lue did recently) if he keeps playing as bad as he is now.
* I don't want to make any predictions about the playoffs.
* It doesn't matter if Cavs have #1 seed or not.

Good for Windy for calling out Shump and how utterly useless he's been. Fucking give him away this off-season, just get him off this roster once and for all.

Still really pisses me off we paid this piece of shit and allowed Delly to walk.

* (Windy in the middle of a book tour for "Return Of The King," which he wrote with Dave McMenamin).
* The question I am asked most on this book tour is "Does LeBron really run the Cavs?" (hosts laugh).
* Many people want to know what happened with Pat Riely and LeBron.
* Many people want to know what happened with Dan Gilbert and LeBron.
* People ask me "LeBron is the general manager, right?"
* I tell people then, "No, or he would have fired David Blatt after about 15 minutes."
* That answer usually gets the questioner to move on from the "LeBron runs the Cavs?" stuff.
* HOST: What did you think of Game 2?
* Amazing game from Kevin Love. 27 points on 7 shots.
* 89 points for the Big Three is highest they have scored, together, in a playoff game.
* A scout told me last night that Kyrie has been the best Cavs' player in the series so far.
* LeBron has played well. Last night he was the back line player for the defense.
* I like LeBron playing the back line of the defense for the Cavs.
* Because, Cavs often are beaten on the perimeter and none of the bigs steps up to help out on defense then.
* Overall, I still don't think the Cavs' defense is performing much better than it was late in the year.
* Cavs are getting beaten on the perimeter (on defense) way too much.
* Lue is throwing some traps at Paul George, which are slowing him down.
* I love that the Cavs found the mismatch when Stephenson guarded Love, and they just wore it out.
* What I'm a little bit nervous about is that the Cavs are tensing up offensively in the fourth quarters of these games.
* HOST: Yeah, it's like they are clock-watching then.
* HOST: How concerned should we be about this?
* #1 thing I'm concerned about is the defense.
* I think this offensive "tense-ness" in the fourth quarter is a scar from the big Hawks comeback game.
* Cavs must break this habit ASAP, no more getting tense when teams make runs at them in the 4th quarter.
* In playoff games, the offense will naturally stall at times (so can't freak out about it).
* I like that Lue is throwing some schemes out there and making adjustments on defense. That is good to see.
* Myles Turner is doing nothing for the Pacers. Maybe he is freezing up. But credit should also be given to Tristan for this.
* Myles Turner is the current scapegoat in Indiana.
* Cavs are so poor on defense that, when their offense stalls, they will give up runs to opponents.
* HOST: It looks like the Cavs just want to outscore people now.
* Cavs do have more offensive talent than anyone in the East. But they don't have more offensive talent than the Warriors do.
* Lue benching Shumpert helped to inspire Shumpert in Game 2.
* There has been 'marginal progress' on the defense so far in this series, so not going to harp on Cavs' defense right now.
* HOST 2: Why did LeBron say Cavs are "close to turning the switch?"
* Probably a combination of how he really feels, and wanting to give teammates confidence.
* I thought that in the first two games, Cavs played really well for about 40 minutes in each game.
* I think LeBron is happy with the effort of the team.
* (talk about Windy's book)
* HOST: What do you know about JR? He hasn't gotten on track.
* No he hasn't.
* Shumpert's and JR's missing defense has been a huge problem for the Cavs.
* Scouts have told me that Cavs' on-ball defense is not really worse than average.
* But, scouts say, Cavs' help defense and weakside defense is awful. These are the big problem areas.
* So, Cavs are not rotating well on defense. The second- and third-line of defense for the Cavs has been very bad.
* And JR and Shumpert are not doing well with this defensive rotation.
* JR was so good at this aspect of defense last year.
* JR "is just in space" right now.
* I did not like JR's body language last night, when they told him he was not going to play.
* The Cavs trainer knows what he's doing, he has no vendetta against JR (just want to keep him healthy).
* Hamstrings are delicate.
* Cavs will need JR as they continue their run this season. Need him on both ends.
* JR is not having "big burst" three-point makes games right now. He had those in the past.
* JR's offensive, defensive struggles are hurting the Cavs.

So critical... Recall many times last season when JR would be on the front end of a Cavs run or be responsible for squashing an opponent's run with his "big burst" 3's. That will be needed at some point during the playoffs. Really hope JR has at least a couple games like that in him...

Yep, we really do need him to help out later in the playoffs.

He was the next important pieces after the big 3 last year in the playoffs.

That scout is crazy,, Kyrie is nowhere near the best player in that series.. Both Lebron and Love have been better than him by far so far in the series.
Cavs are -8.8 with him on the floor because of his defense, he needs to step it up soon.

He was +0 while scoring 37 points.. there is only one reason for that. I expect a big game out of him tomorrow and I hope his 3pt shot comes back.
