Has the WBNA ever turned a profit? As far as I know, it has been operated in severe red for every year of it's existence.

Actually...

Stern said the 13-team women's league, the WNBA, was faring better than the NBA these days.

"The NBA is far less profitable than the WNBA," he said. We're losing a lot of money amongst a large number of teams. We're budgeting the WNBA to break even this year."

He believes the NBA's best days are still ahead, although many teams, such as the Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies, are expected to lose millions of dollars this year.

When he says they are budgeting it to break even this year, it means it hasn't broke even yet.

They really just need to shut down the WBNA. No one cares about watching bull dykes play basketball worse than I can.

I was listening to The Herd on ESPN radio this morning and they had Bill Laimbeer on who I guess is now coaching one of the WNBA teams. He basically said that he has to be nice and sensitive in the locker rooms because women don't take criticism as well and that none of the WNBA players could ever play in the NBA.

I mean damn, way to shill for your league Bill.

It was kind of funny when the Cleveland Rockers folded and nobody cared. I think it took a year or more before anyone knew they were gone.

It is surprising this league lasted and I think has even added teams. You do wonder if some will fold though with the current economy.
