I really hope France takes it. Been supporting them since I was 7 years old (1996). Even though we're stacked right now, there is no way I can have hope. 2006 as well as 2016, we almost made it, but then got beaten by penalties, and in extra time. The Croatia front line is excellent as well. Really smart players who can carve up a defense with their passing and can actually finish.

On a side note, the Premiere League allstar game on Saturday should be fun if both teams put effort into the game. I really wish the NBA would do a 3rd place series. Or even game.

I thought I'd root for Croatia since it's such a small country, but stuff like this makes it tough to do that:

Yeah. You can't have your hands in the way or have it affect the ball. Especially if it comes off your body the way it did today. Obviously direct kicks that look like you're trying to draw it aren't allowed. But the same rule applies to both teams. I'm glad it went our way but it's definitely a rule they need to look into.

VAR was a disaster imo.

Seeing hand balls in slow mo isn't how its supposed to be.

Yea, in slow motion every hand ball can be made to look intentional. But when you watch that in real time, he's behind a player that flat out misses the header. He's not expecting that ball to get to him.

I don't want to see anymore video review until they get the handball shit under control. The refs were AWFUL with that call all World Cup.

I also think soccer needs to think about making some changes to hand balls being automatic penalties if they occur in the box. Especially if they're gonna use VAR. Like, if the ball hits off my hand while it's flying out of bounds...should that then result in a penalty kick? Or just a spot kick from within the box. Too many penalties on plays that have zero chance to result in a goal. Need to think about changing that.
