WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Enzo has been released by WWE following allegations that he drugged and raped a woman in October. Can't say I'm sad to see him gone.

Ever since they broke him and Cass up, he's just been a waste of airtime and now it comes out that he's even more of a creep than expected. I'm okay with that. Wtf are they going to do with 205 though? Might as well cancel it and just have these guys as regular wrestlers and being back the cruiser weight title instead of making them seem like lepers on core WWE TV...

It continues to make zero sense to have the cruiserweight division its own separate entity.

The CW title would get a lot more over if other cruiserweight competitors were out there challenging for the Tag Titles, or the IC title.

Yeah, I agree that it's dumb to have the cruiserweights never wrestle anyone but each other. They should be able to compete for other titles as well, and the cruiserweight title should be for anyone under 205, or close enough that it makes no difference (this is fake sports we're talking about). You could have a guy like Finn Balor moonlight as cruiserweight champ for a while to give the belt some respectability (and give Finn something to do), then transition him back into competition for the IC or Universal Title when he's done. You could have guys like Cedric Alexander wrestle Miz for the IC Title as well.

I don't think having a show specific to the cruiserweights is a bad idea, but it's just handled so poorly. These guys are tremendous athletes capable of doing some incredibly unique things, but all their matches are worked like every other WWE match. They're not allowed to stand out, and so no one gives a shit about them.

Been a while since I've done a preview, so here goes!

Kassius Ohno Vs. Velveteen Dream
This was announced pretty last minute, but it's a good chance for Dream to get himself on another Takeover card after he had a star-making performance at WarGames and a solid follow-up against Gargano last night. This should be the curtain-jerker, and hard to see it not being a fun, hard-hitting match. Can't see any way they'd have Dream drop this one, as he's lost his last two high-profile matches and needs a good rebound win.
Winner: Velveteen Dream

Extreme Rules Match - Aleister Black Vs. Adam Cole

Making this a hardcore match definitely upped the interest for me. Cole has been pretty lackluster thus far in NXT, and he really needs a marquee match to hang his hat on. Hopefully, this will be it. Black's been on a hot streak and hasn't lost yet in singles competition. I think that changes now, with Cole being the first guy to beat him one-on-one.
Winner: Adam Cole (bay bay)

NXT Women's Championship Match - Ember Moon (c) Vs. Shayna Baszler

They've been booking Baszler really well since she joined NXT, with her kicking the shit out of Dakota Kai's arm a few weeks back and just generally choking the life out of bitches. That said, I just don't think Baszler is ready to carry the women's division. She's still a bit raw in the ring, and she moves noticeably slower than some of her peers. Plus, Ember just won the belt and probably isn't in line for a call-up just yet. I think she holds onto the title and gets a showdown with Kairi Sane during 'Mania weekend.
Winner: Ember Moon

NXT Tag Team Championship Match - The Undisputed Era (c) Vs. The Authors of Pain

Unlike Ember Moon, I think the AOP are in line for a call-up soon. They've been in NXT forever, have done everything there is to do, put on some tremendous matches with a variety of teams, and are ready to move on. On the flip side, the Cole and O'Reilly are fresh faces in the division and have only held the titles a short time. I also believe that they're setting up Cole and his friends to be a dominant force in NXT. That starts with the Undisputed Era holding on to the titles in Philly.
Winner: The Undisputed Era

NXT Championship Match - Johnny Gargano Vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas

Been kind of back and forth on this one. On the one hand, it seems kind of strange that no titles will be changing hands at a major event. On the other, all three champs have only held their titles a short time and it doesn't make a ton of sense to take the belts off of them so soon. There's an outside shot that Gargano could win here before dropping the title to Adam Cole at the next Takeover when Ciampa returns, but it's just as likely that Ciampa returns on Saturday to cost Gargano the win, setting up the two of them to duel on 'Mania weekend. I'm going to go with Almas hanging on. He's been killing it of late and there's no real reason to take the title from him.
Winner: Andrade "Cien" Almas

Should be a great show.

I have to think that, if Vince was watching the main event, a cold chill must have ran up his spine watching Gargano. Gonna be Daniel Bryan all over again with the crowds rebelling until they put some gold on him when he gets called up.

That was such a good show top to bottom. Not a fan of Shayna at all but I get the appeal considering she actually has an MMA background.

Really don't like Shayna? Can I ask why?

Crazy to think how much AIW talent was on this show... Or even people who've wrestled in AIW, which is in our own backyard.

I've never been a fan of the cocky UFC fighter gimmick. Every important match goes the same way when they're heels. Dominate, dominate, dominate, face comeback, loss.

I mean, for her, it's more than an actual gimmick, but it's fair to not like it.

Hated the finish, but a great match.

Yeah. You know when there's someone you just don't like and you can't necessarily rationalize it coherently?

But jeez this PPV was booked 95% amazingly. Even though I'd have preferred Cole to win the hits in that match were INSANE. The (basically AA) onto the two chairs spine first made me cringe.

its sad that NXT has never lost in the ppv vs the main roster in terms of just quality.

Really frustrated, though, that WWE isn't putting more stock into Dunne/Bate.

What time is the main event tonight? I have Cavs tickets but should be home by 9:00. Men's rumble won't start before that, will it?

They really need to officially make the UK Title the NXT secondary belt and feature if on every PPV. Add half an hour to the shows if need be.

Agreed.

MOTY, never gets defended on PPV.

I'd rather they use 205 to showcase Brittish talent.
