WWE/NXT/AEW/NJPW Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No big loss.
You don't think he could be a major draw if wrote correctly and there wasn't part timers in front of him? I beg to differ, dude could be a star and take on a Stone Cold persona better than everyone in that place.

Just bad writing on top of bad writing. Cool story having him turn heel the night Roman announced his cancer. Then making him lose again and again after turning heel.

Wrestlers are just spokes on the wheel in the industry.

I think he was given chance after chance to be a meaningful worker in WWE. He was given good and poor chances and given fair and unfair chances. It's just not there, he never connected with the fans the way the WWE wanted him to.

That's not to say he couldn't be a big draw in a different company. Hell, look at guys like Jericho, Benoit and others after they left WCW for WWE. Some companies reach guys in different ways. But this isn't the equivalent of WWE losing anyone of consequence to AEW, nor should it be portrayed as such. If anything, he probably would have become a part of the roster trim sooner or later.

I understand the need for some to want to make AEW something they aren't. I'll be more shocked when/if they lose top, TOP stars to AEW.

I remember when the shield first made their debut on raw, and literally every message board talked about 3 things: 1) Roman was the Rock's cousin, 2) Rollins was incredibly talented, 3) Ambrose could be the next SCSA if he worked on his character. That was 6 years ago. He doesnt have the mic skills, his persona is more Pillman than SCSA. He was given a push, but never really grabbed the audience.

WWE isnt losing much.

Also, SCSA was a cultural phenomenon. He was an ass kicker who gave people the finger. People bought into it. Add in the entrance and you have something that really captured people.

What put him over the top was that his character beat up his boss & was a beer drinking redneck. 90% of WWEs adult audience at the time wanted to be him. Dads got excited, so their sons got excited. Hence why many of us millennials hold the attitude era in such high regard. That will never happen again.

You know, given that Johnny Gargano is from Cleveland, we really need to have Baker Mayfield show up and help him win a match at some point. Baker would be a great heel.
"The way he grabbed his crotch at that fake wresting event was disgusting. Peyton Manning would never use his crotch to gain notoriety" - Colin Cowherd

Good points I guess, maybe I'm just too much of a fan of him to see obvious bad traits in character/mic skills/selling his persona.

Wwe seriously has to start creating their present mixed with the future though. These part timers are good for crowd pops and unexpected visits, but they get boring ala Lesnar.

I marked out when Double J entered the rumble and sung on Raw, but that's it. Wwe could've built up one hell of sick and twisted rivalry between Ambrose and Rollins with Lesnar out of the picture.

I can't recall the last cool story WWE told us to be honest. It probably came from either NXT obviously or the Women's division. Lots of cool shit going on in NXT.

You guys actually believe Ambrose is leaving? When’s the last time they published a wwe.com article about a guy that’s leaving? When’s the last time they had a guy on the mic bitching that was supposably leaving? This has work written all over it.

It definitely may be, but I've read some speculation that the reason they announced it is because Ambrose is no longer going to be on TV and people would inevitably start asking questions if they didn't comment.

He could be signing elsewhere, but there’s a 90 day no compete

Right, but my point is that he told WWE he wasn't re-signing and so, given that he is an upper mid-card guy and not the usual jobber that asks out, it probably benefits them more to just take him off of TV until his contract is up in April. I don't think they're releasing him. I think they'll sit on him until his contract is done. If they send him out and humiliate him every week by having him job, it's just going to draw more attention to WWE for being petty, and it sends a bad message to everyone under contract or considering signing there.

Thus, it makes sense to just remove him from TV and then let him go when the contract ends.

Now, it could absolutely be a work. I don't dispute that. But if he doesn't show up on TV the next few weeks, my guess is they just made the announcement so that people aren't sitting around posting about what the fuck is going on with Dean Ambrose. We know now, and if he doesn't show up on WWE TV again, we can all do the math.

My thing is when have they ever done this for other guys leaving? Usually they write them off somehow or just let them disappear.

I get that, but it's almost better for them this way. If they have him just disappear, people start asking questions. If they humiliate him, that's all people will talk about. Better to just rip the band-aid off, acknowledge he's gone, and then just let people stop talking about him for the next three months, which cools him off without jobbing him out constantly (which, again, would get people talking about how petty WWE was and would make them look bad to other performers).

Lesnar and Hayman are in talks with WWE, AEW, and UFC.
