Yankees @ Indians series thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What's the magic number of regular season wins needed for a division winner to be eligible to win the World Series?

A year ago we were 62-46 with a +82 run differential. Detroit was 2 GB

Today, we are 59-50, +96 run differential. KC will be 1.5-3.5 GB by day's end

Scenarios aren't a whole lot different

Royals down 7-0 in the 2nd, almost rallied all the way back but lose 8-7. 2nd game underway in the next 10 minutes

Indians lead now 3 games

I think its the inconsistency that is maddening...win a few in a row lose a few in a row...over and over again... the 9 game win streak was crucial because KC was also on a 9 game win streak...we could've been in trouble if we didn't have that

I dont think this is really in response to anything anyone said?

This is definitely the root of all frustration on this forum and fans in general of this team.

And I get it: coming off a World Series run, added a top tier free agent/power bat, essentially added another 3 key pieces that were injured for the playoff run. Overall, the team should be outperforming last year's team.

It's just natural to have a this sort of inconsistency in a sport like baseball over a 162 game season. We have an extremely talented roster from the lineup to the rotation to the bullpen. Get us to the playoffs and no one wants to play us. Kluber and Miller alone make us extremely dangerous.

How many fans are thrilled with where their team is right now for the 2017 playoffs? Probably only Dodgers fans. Nats have had some injuries. Cubs look a lot better but their fans have been frustrated for the majority of the season. DBacks and Rockies have looked good but they know their season comes down to 1 game in October. I know a lot of Red Sox fans and they aren't high on their team. Yankees look solid but have had inconsistencies; AL East could force them to play for their season in 1 game in October. Astros have been great but their rotation could send them home early.

Royals look to have Game 2 well in hand, Indians lead back to 2.5

Upcoming games for both squads before they meet in 2 weeks:

Royals:
2 vs. STL (55-56)
2 @ STL (55-56)
3 @ CHW (41-68)
3 @ OAK (49-62)

Indians:
2 vs. COL (64-48)
4 @ TB (58-55)
1 @ BOS (63-49)
3 @ MIN (53-56)

Watching the Royals on extra innings, and there's no commentating for whatever reason. Just sounds of the game.

This is not intended to come across as being a smart-ass, however, I would say your statement sums up baseball in general. It is an up and down season and as much as the fans try, some really struggle to observe this and drive themselves mad. By no means am I saying wins and losses do not count, however, with so many games in a season - it can be too easy to get too high or too low.

Just looked at the standings and saw the Indians are going for their 60th victory and the Dodgers are going for their 80th... My goodness

Even Houston who is having a great season and are 31 games above .500 are 8 games behind the Dodgers. Unbelievable season they're having, 1 win off pace of tying the record of 116.

I can't understand it

The Braves ended their 9 game win streak 3 different times, at least that's what I heard, might have to check that
