Yi Jianlian, Cavs China's new team.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

We need Yi.. We simply can't have enough 7 footers who play about as far away from the basket as they can...

Can we get a guy that can bang on the block....

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

Trading for Yi would just encourage millions of new fans in China to watch the Cavs play really bad interior defense next year...

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

I know everyone loves the +- and Yi was a +13 against Orlando the last time those teams faced. And Dwight was +-0. I say we get him NOW.

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

I've never been impressed with Yi.

He has zero bulk, doesn't defend the paint well, and doesn't have much of a polished post game. Plus, in games vs. the Cavs he's looked awful.

Give him steroids... according to that one guy it worked for Wade.

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

Just watch the video...he gets most of his points on open midrange jumpers...on his career high night he did not have one low post up play to get 2 points. This guy would absolutely disappear in a playoff series.

He's injury prone too

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

sorry i forgot that he was a net.

ben wallace/sasha/ our first/

for

Vince Carter/ Yi Jianlian

umm no thanks. Thats a waste. Yi still has a lot to prove and i wouldn't want to waste our most valuable trading chip on him.(Big ben).

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

Yi...kind of sucks...really doesn't have a low post game, doesn't defend, doesn't rebound and gets his points from a midrange jumper...I feel if he came here he might suffer the same fate as Sasha...

Correction....Yi doesn't "kind of" suck....he just plain sucks.

The guy had a mediocre rookie season in Milwaukee, got traded to NJ a year after the Bucks almost caused an international incident when they drafted him and had to beg him to come to Milwaukee, and then he followed up that effort by playing even WORSE in New Jersey thbis season. Toward the end of the year he started playing terribly and Lawrence Frank had some nights where he couldn't even stomach playing him....even though the Nets were young and loaded with rookies.

The Nets were all about playing young guys and rookies for the future and some nights they didn't even play Yi.

And you expect Mike Brown to PLAY this guy???

He's a 7-foot SF who just LOVES to shoot (and mostly MISS) jumpers. He shot 38% last year. Shooting 38% isn't good....it's really not good when you are 7-foot tall.

He plays no defense, shows no toughness, and doesn't really have a feel for the game or basketball IQ.

Oh...and if that wasn't bad enough.....he's not 21 as he is listed. Pretty much everyone realizes now he is 24....China is notorious for fixing ages like this and Yi was 17 for like 3 or 4 years.....LOL. I gues they really do have a Fountain of Youth over there in China.:chuckles:

Bringing in Yi would be nothing more than a gimmick to try and appease Chinese investors.

However, if 15mpg for Yi (who, for all his weaknesses CAN get some buckets out there) means enough international viewership to keep LeBron in Cleveland no matter what the Knicks do...so much so that New York's "market" advantage is eliminated...count me in!

Or, we could take a much lower risk (and much more intriguing) project and pick up Sun Yue, a 6'9 guard from the Lakers...you may remember him from the Chinese national team, he started at the 2 for them if memory serves.

Re: Yi Jianlian, Cav's Chinas new team.

There are 1 million 7 foot+ men in China. Only one of them can play ball.

I watched a few Nets games last year...

Yi is invisible on D. Heck, against the Cavs alone Andy blew by him for like 5 dunks.

He's PATHETIC.

Except that Yi for 15 minutes a night is 15 minutes that JJ or Darnell Jackson could be playing.

Bringing him in only slows down their chances to get on the court. I can't see how Yi would even outplay either of them. He is not very good.

The best fit for Yi would be a team like Dallas where he could ride the pine, get some intense individual coaching, and learn from a guy with similar skills - Dirk.

Right now he looks like the Chinese version of Nikolas Tskitishvili.

BTW - ESPN (alleged) draft "guru" Chad Ford LOVED both these guys coming out. Next time you want a good laugh, swing over to a Chad Ford chat session on ESPN.com and ask him why a guy who loved Tskitishvili, Yi, and Darko so much in the draft still has a JOB with ESPN covering the Draft. Funny stuff.
