Sam Bradford or trade for Alex Smith
Carlos Hyde or Jamaal Charles
Allen Robinson or Matthews/Pryor/Lee

Draft (Rosen says no):
1-2 (Trade w/ NYG for a 2nd round pick) - Sam Darnold - QB - USC

1-4 - Minkah Fitzpatrick - CB - Alabama

2-32 - Sony Michel - RB - Georgia - Balance, tackle-breaking, speed, power. Everything you want, but struggles with fumbles.

2-33 - Christian Kirk - WR - Texas A&M - Dynamic Z receiver who can make plays everywhere.

2-35 - Tyrell Crosby - T - Oregon - The future LT gets a chance to compete at RT and be groomed.

2-60 - DeShon Elliot - S - Texas - Jumped onto the scene as a premier CF, perfect for the Angel role to compete with Nacua.

3-65 - Tegray Scales - LB - Indiana - Elite talent and first round ability, hasn't stayed out of trouble.

4 - Mason Cole - C - Michigan - The Browns are pretty good here, but Cole can play all three interior positions. Tretter was good, not great this past year.

4 (CAR) - Tyquan Lewis - DE - Ohio State - Doesn't get the notoriety as elite, but a solid all-around game and the size to play a role in the NFL.

5 - Chase Edmonds - RB - Fordham - My favorite sleeper of 2018, dominated his level, but his traits make him a future NFL 3rd down back.

5 (KC) - Michael Dickson - P - Texas - Best punter to enter the draft in a decade plus. True weapon.

6 - Ian Thomas - TE - Indiana - Under the radar guy, but could compete for the third TE spot occupied by Telfer.

7 - Rashaan Gaulden - CB - Tennessee - Surprise early entrant, probably should have stuck around. But he's a decent player, and has a chance to stick.

Welcome aboard Club Minkah

If you mean the part of Smith's career where he sucked, then I agree.

McCarron will put up solid numbers for Hue since he is able to actually run the offense and is a game manager style QB. Now that being said, he will never be more than a spot starter/competent backup type of QB. He is accurate but cannot make the big play throws. More or less I am saying honestly he will put up a solid completion % and won't throw many INTs and turnover the ball much, but I don't ever see him going over 3000 yards in a season.

So let me get this straight...McCarron is accurate, solid completion %, not many turnovers but you still don't see him throwing over 3000 yds ever? What if he starts 16 games next year and his weapons are Gordon, Robinson, Coleman, Higgins, Njoku, Barkley/Michel & Duke? That's only 187 yds per game. If you're accurate and don't turn the ball over you might throw for 200 yds in a half at times with those weapons. We don't need someone to always hit the big plays down field, just be accurate and get them the ball. I'm not advocating signing McCarron but given his history and the strange meeting with Hue and Jimmy i think there is a pretty good chance he comes here with a chance to compete for the starting job.

It's very possible McCarron ends up in Cleveland as the bridge QB. I wouldn't go that route but I wouldn't put it past Hue to go this direction.

That being said, if McCarron is healthy enough to play 16 games a year, he absolutely would eclipse 3,000 yards. Like @Kiddo said, it's only 187 yards a game. Only 5 QBs this year failed to average that and those guys didn't start the whole year (Hoyer, Hundley, Savage, Trubisky, Taylor). McCarron is useful as an accurate WCO back up QB. He's a spot starter and a high end backup in the league but if you are starting him for 16 games, you are going to be near the bottom of the league in passing stats.

It's absolutely feasible, I honestly should add him to my list as a Tier 3 QB, but his contract situation won't be resolved for another few weeks.

If he's an UFA, I think it becomes very likely.

A question and a comment:

Do you think Kirk will be there in the second round? I’ve seen him all over draft boards but typically he is the first or second ranked WR. Teams go crazy for receivers every year in the first. I’m thinking he goes late teens but admit I might have missed something recent that’s made him drop.

Gordon/Robinson/Coleman/Kirk at receiver is beastly. I know that Gordon is a giant question mark, but man if that squad could keep on the field it would have to be one of the best and deepest in the NFL of the last decade.

I think Ridley and Sutton are the top two receivers, both project somewhere after the 8th or 9th pick IMO.

I think Kirk could be there at the top of the second, but it’s definitely not a given depending on how he tests.

Some people are giving him some OBJ comps, which I think is a bit much. I’m not sure how willing some teams will be after seeing him under 6-feet and perhaps with some smaller hands/arms.

Though if you sign a guy like Robinson it becomes something less of a concern.

If John Dorsey signs Bradford and he gets injured (and he will) I'll be calling for his job.

You make a hard push for cousins and bell. Try to front load them as much as possible. Especially with bell since running backs don't last in the league very long.

QB: Cousins
RB: Bell, of course don't see this happening as the Steelers might just tag him. Then go for Hyde if you can't get Bell.
WR: Landry

Trade down with the Giants, draft Minkah. Trade down with the jets, draft Connor Williams (joe Thomas replacement). Try and get the jets and Giants 2nd rounders on the trade down. Make them sweat that we have a better offer on the table if they don't take the deal.

If there's one undeniable problem with our fans, it's this mentality. I couldn't think of a worse situation than people calling for your job at the hint of a mistake. Be perfect, or die.

I really just don't understand how Hyde is now considered an elite back.

He's always been solid but when did he become elite at anything?

Not against the idea of signing him but I think many here are setting themselves up for a tremendous letdown with the hype that's being spun.

I don't think anyone considers him an "elite back" but he is considered an affordable and complimentary back to Johnson.

If you look at the posts by most people, they just want Hyde cause he should fit the system and want to spend one of our first 5 picks on another RB as well. So they want to get Hyde, put him with Johnson and then get a Michel as well so we have a solid rotation going. Also the RB position is a fickle one hence why I dont want Bell cause of the fact we could spend the money on WR (which this draft isn't a truly deep one in position of at least number one wise) or a DB (Boston, Joyner etc).

Most of us agree we should get a WR sometime between the first two rounds (signing Cousins and trading down, getting extra picks then getting a Ridley/Sutton isn't out of the question in my mind since this second round should end up being good for offensive talent).

Guys like Washington, Kirk, Cobbs, St kid from Notre Dame and others all will move up or down in the draft cause of their combines. There isn't a ton of tier 1/number 1 WRs in this class, but I feel there is a bunch of 2/3 WRs.

Bradford is a solid QB just injury prone. Also if we do sign Bradford it will be a 2-3 year deal with most of the money guaranteed up front (aka like 18-20 mil year one the rest will be partially or non-guaranteed for the other two seasons).

At least we would be signing a QB that knows what he is doing and is a legit NFL QB. Though the way it stands right now we are likely swinging for the fences and Cousins, or trading for Smith unless Dorsey feels like guys like McCarron, Daniels, Bridgewater can be at least one to two year starting options.

I feel Bradford will end up in Denver or with the Jags since they both need a veteran starter.

No, signing Bradford and expecting him to play a full season is like expecting Derek Rose not to get hurt in a season. Neither is going to happen.

Don't believe me? We can place a friendly wager on it.
