Your 2018 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Isn't Machado hellbent on playing shortstop?

I'd love a Machado-Lindor-Ramirez-Alonso infield, but I just don't think it's a realistic thing to think about for a few reasons.

I think it's 'realistic', in the sense that I see a fit: he is going to leave BMore (they will not be highest bidder), the Indians may be more willing to pay the lesser price of rental vs multi year rental (see Andrew Miller price), and the Indians knowing the window is now. I think it comes down to the market that BMore finds while shopping him. I think I could certainly happen.

But let's also be honest- imagine the convulsions from the Cleveland fan base when they have to let go next offseason of BOTH their new shiny object AND Chief Wahoo. It would be ugly, the only saving grace would be a championship.

If we're trading for a 1 year rental, I'd rather jjust wait until the deadline. We can win the division without a guy like Machado - we'd jist need him (or someone else significant) to win it all. Machado, Donaldson, Beltre, Adam Jones, McCutchen, Cruz, and others could potentially be on the block this summer. There are also a few free agents who might soon be willing to sign a one year deal.

Hell no.

If I am getting a rental, it damn well be the whole year. The price will not be much more and you get the benefits of chemistry and optimization from the beginning.

Makes too much sense too. Kip, god love him, is not good enough and the Indians have better 3rd options coming down the pipe than at 2nd. Plus, Machado is simply just better.

Don't agree with this at all. Orioles hold complete leverage right now. In July, with only months left on his contract and other big bats likely to be available, they'd have almost none.

Do not care.

If they want him, get him now.

I think the Machado ship has sailed. He is going to pay SS in 2018. Clearly a move to boost his FA value, and i dont see Boras allowing him to play @ 3b. And as a star, and a plus defender, he has that right. Boras has gotten his ass handed to him this off-season , everything he does from here until 2018 off-season will be to boost values. He isn't giving an inch. Oh well.

As for doing a deal now- Machado is going to make 16m. Indians would have to shed salary to add him, either now or at midseason. I wouldnt be surprized if that was part of the Encarnacion to the Sox chatter- seeing if they can shed Encarnacion's salary, and a younger guy with some years of control, and then use the freed up salary so the club doesnt have to sweeten a rental deal with more prospects OR sign one of the floating FAs.

I definitely don't think he'll be moved now. I do think he'll go in July at a lesser price.

Want no part of Manny Machado..a 1 year rental making 20 million. All for a guy who hit 259. No thx.

Indians missed the boat in not dumping Kipnis. Hopefully Jason has a huge bounce back season. It could happen. The only problem there is future stud Yandy Diaz will be Tyler Naquined by Tito. And that's a shame.

Diaz hit a robust 304 after his second call up and was a huge factor in the 22 games winning streak. He hit 350 for the Clippers with a mind boggling 460 OBP. His power will eventually come. Another Titoism is putting both Gonzo and Urshella on the playoff roster. Made no sense and may have cost this team a championship.

.259?! Couldn’t be my 3rd baseman

Yes 259..a lot of coin for a 1 year 259 hitter. The fawning over this guy makes no sense to me. Would much rather have Yandy Diaz emerge as the budding star that he is.

Yandy hit zero dongs last year. No thanks.

Every dipshit knows Diaz has the better future.

.259 not gonna cut it.

Yandy better. Go Cleveland team.
