Your 2018 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Folks, what are we going to do with Brantley? What is his market going to look like? Another tough call. I'd like to get him back on a 2+1 with a small raise from this year's option pay, but doubtful.
I think we have to sign him. Obviously, you don’t go crazy, but I don’t see him garnering major dollars based on his history.

Jose Iglesias had stress fractures in both legs in March 2014 and missed the entire season.

Hard and useless to speculate with the very little information we have, but it's not good news.

Based on everything I’ve read, I would expect him to be out for at least four weeks. I’m still not ready to completely panic and declare him out until 2019, but I’m also not sure we can rule out that scenario either.

What a bummer. Guy was having a Cy Young caliber season.

It says “fracture” not “stress fracture.” A stress fracture would be worse.

' Small' still means there is a fractured bone that needs to heal. Immobilization and non-weight bearing start the recovery process. Location of the fracture is also a key to
the recovery time. Above the ankle is the tricky area. Since healing starts with a
hematoma, early excess motion and weight bearing can displace the blood clot and delay
healing and possibly lead to a worse situation.

I saw a fair number of this type injury among the Oregon track team back in the
1970s when I attended school there and knew several people in the track program.

Bauers return really depends on how long he has to be in a boot and non-weight
bearing. The further it goes into September, the odds really tilt the wrong
way for him getting back to the rotation in 2018. At that near end point of the
regular season, where is he going to be able to rehab to get to the point that
the team wants to put the ball in his hand in the playoffs.

My 'Holiday Inn Express' expert look from afar is the Indians will be fortunate
to get Bauer back this season.

Bad day for the Indians and hopes to end the 50 year drought.

Well, we could just look at it like the '16 season when half the staff was banged up and we still got to the WS. Feel bad for him personally though, dudes been beasting all year. A positive though is Biebs has looked really good thus far . . .
