Your 2019 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Not sure what we should do right now anyways, when it comes to buying and selling, since we can easily get the Wild Card if we keep playing well. Put a couple more solid bats in the lineup and we can easily get that last wild card spot, or do we just go for max talent in 2020 when on paper we should have everyone back healthy and guys more experienced?
I plan for 2020. If we can get a homerun offer for Bauer or a grand slam offer for Lindor, you consider it. Otherwise, keep things the same, maybe find a way to add a bat and play some younger kids, let them grow and develop this year and go for it 2020.

EE would be a great fit in this lineup, but it makes little sense to spend assets or payroll on a 1 year player chasing a 1 game playoff

Bauer may be worth trading since a team like the Padres wants to beat the Dodgers/win the division out there and they have such a good farm system that we could get at least one solid ready to play now prospect that it would help the lineup in the end and could cause more wins because of that.

I actually want EE for Jose's sake actually since those two are good pals and EE presence and probably words would help Jose get himself a little better back on track. Also we can decide to keep or cut him next season without any issues at the end of the day, but I would like to still go for the wild card even if we trade Bauer, so lets do a bit of buying and selling while setting us up for a better team in 2020 overall.

I mean, he has a $5m buyout which is an issue for a team that just slashed $20m off their payroll last offseason. And they aren't going to pick up his $20m option.

Maybe a offseason reunion if the price is right on a 1 year deal, but first I’d like to see Bradley get a fair shot at the 1B/DH role with Santana.

No one would disagree with giving Bradley a chance, I just don't exactly want to say to the players, hey this FO has given up on winning anything this season. This has been a second half team since Francona has gotten here and I wouldn't mind making a deal to get some help in here somehow even if it means just getting that wild card spot. For me I am okay with releasing Martin, Kipnis etc and replacing them with Mathias and Johnson, while trading Bauer for top prospects and bringing back EE and seeing what happens. I believe we will be better in 2020 at the end of the day, so I want to go for winning it all next season, but I also feel we can get a wild card spot this season, so finding a way to still get that wild card spot while improving the team for next season is what I am wanting to do.

Dealing Leonys Martin would allow them to go out and get some help at the corner OF spot with a pending free agent.

Alex Gordon would be great, if the Royals are willing to pay the money up to the buyout. Would allow them to do a true platoon with Luplow as Mercado shifts to CF.

Nick Castellanos could be another option.

Good Luck with getting Alex Gordon, he doesn't want to leave the Royals (which he has stated) and since he is a 10 and 5 player, he has the right to veto any trade, so I don't think we will be able to convince him to leave KC. Castellanos isn't good fielder, but is a good bat so he could help in the lineup (though he is only hitting .261 this season), but how much would we have to pay for him compared to EE who is well liked by our clubhouse plus has more power?

Hypothetical trade scenario #2: Hand to the Dodgers for Gavin Lux and Alex Verdugo. Who says no?

I would imagine the Dodgers do. That would be a massive overpay for Hand considering what we gave up for him a year ago.

Gotta hand it to this team. When the season was looking lost, they came on like a hungry Bear.

Plus the Dodgers aren't really desperate for pen help.

Their bullpen ERA is ranked 16th in the league, and it still has question marks outside of Jansen.

I'm not saying they can't use him, but they aren't desperate. It's not our pen last year (pre-trade), they are coasting to the division title, and already have an established closer. They can afford to wait and add an arm that will cost much less than Hand will.

I don't know if desperate is the right word, but they've lost 2 World Series in a row and their bullpen blew 4 saves in those World Series (Jansen x3, Morrow x1)

Verdugo likely isn't available anymore, but I'm sure the Dodgers will be linked to the top bullpen arms available.

Barring a massive fallout in the coming weeks, I don't see the Indians trading Hand, but we will see.

The Tribe probably doesn’t trade Hand unless another team offers an Andrew Miller type package for him, which he is worth considering he’s never pitched better and is under control for two more seasons after this one.
