Your game of the year 2015.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Shouldn't even be a competition this year. Witcher 3 wins. Nothing else was even close.

I honestly can't even think of a worthy runner up. Metal Gear Solid V was good, but I think it strayed too far from the series' story-telling roots to the point where there just wasn't enough story.

.

I think I'd put MGS5 on par with Witcher 3 if it had the story and soul to back it up like the previous MGS games did (for better or worse). The story is still cool to an extent, but it could have elevated it to a point where Witcher would not have clearly eclipsed it the way I think it does. I say this even after thinking the "true" ending was one of the coolest, most daring twists in the entire series, and one that made me rethink the entire MGS mythos.

Hella good game, though.

Great game. We are probably the only people that play this game on this board lol. We should at least share our levels with each other.

Do this. Really fun games to play. If you like Indiana Jones then these should be up your alley.

My game of the year though is Yoshi's Wooly World. It's a really colorful world, and a fun game to play. Getting all the collectibles to unlock all the levels and all the Yoshis adds a high level of challenge as well. Have put a ton of hours into this with my wife.

Haha wow i thought I was the only one who did. Okay I did not expect this.. I will rattle of my levels from my nice text notebook.

(Keep in mind to people won't let you say hell in a title name.)

Yeah, the relative lack of story compared to prior entries was what made MGSV just not stand out as much to me. I thought the gameplay was excellent, even if it didn't really feel like MGS to me. But really, that was the problem. It had great gameplay, but it just didn't feel like MGS. I really missed the linear design of past MGS games. I like open world games, but what I expect from a Metal Gear Solid game is a great linear, story-driven experience, and Phantom Pain just didn't deliver that.

It's why I just can't rank it next to Witcher 3. Hell, Witcher 3's open world had a far better, more involved story than Phantom Pain. And that's just disappointing. I play Metal Gear games for boss fights and cut-scenes. Phantom Pain just didn't deliver in that regard, even if it was probably the best "game" of the series.

Everything gaming is shifting to a open world or on rails lore now and days. MGS5 Is great at what it does but it added RPG like elements to a open world that had to give up some story. However the story is there but in collection format. The story is said through findings on tapes rather than told. I like that idea and it meshes well with what they were going for. I find this one to be my favorite since Sons of Liberty and that is saying something. To each is own I suppose.

Wow, you liked 2 more than 3?

To me, Metal Gear Solid has always been about the story. I just didn't really care for the direction they went with this one where the story took a total backseat to the open world. Hell, even the missions were kind of poorly-designed at times simply because they had to be forced into an open world. Sure, certain missions work because they were specifically designed to use certain areas, but many of the other missions that weren't designed for those areas suffered as a result. I think MGSV was a great game, just not a great Metal Gear Solid game.

And I know that a lot of the story was on tapes, but I found that kind of annoying since I just sit in the menu and listen to them anyway to avoid missing out on details. They might as well have just been codec conversations like in previous games.

Just more proof that you can never please everyone. Tons of people clamored for a Metal Gear Solid game that had state of the art gameplay and didn't devolve into hour long cutscenes at times. That is what MGS5 was, but then you have the core MGS fans who played those games because they liked that stuff. Personally, I find MGS5 to be a great game and my second favorite in the series, but ultimately I would say it tells an unnecessary and somewhat bare bones story.

I would have been fine with a better-edited MGS story, as Kojima had a tendency to go on for far too long at times. I just think they veered way too far into the opposite direction to the point where there are almost no cut-scenes and the story is practically non-existent for most of the game.

I didn't play Witcher 3 yet as my PC would most likely melt so of the games I actually played

Gets my riot gear on

Undertale

Other games that were amazing this year that I played and finished (Pillars, wasteland 2 and Fallout 4 aren't done yet, though I do think the VAs in Fallout 4 took away more than they added) were Ori and the Blind Forest, Mario Maker and Lisa the Painful/ Joyful RPG (Yea Painful was Dec 2014 but the 2nd part was 2015 so I'll count it)

I agree about the convo codec part. The thing is this was Kojima and his Konami and this is the game that I guess broke the trust for him. So the game I feel story wise was not the game he wanted. So yeah the game still came out while having a fight over power at Konami. I wonder what that affected because at times you could tell the story was told by a seven year old at times. I love MGS2 the best of the series IMO.

Eh...I don't think Konami had as big an impact on the game as everyone thinks. It's certainly possible that they had an impact on the later parts of the game because Kojima was essentially sent packing, but I'd wager the bulk of the game is mostly what Kojima wanted.

I'd have to disagree about MGS2, though. I'd probably rank it as the worst of the series. Not that it's bad or anything...it's just not as good as the others. The tanker chapter was phenomenal, but the rest of the game didn't live up to that segment.

I'd rank them:
Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid
Guns of the Patriots
Phantom Pain
Sons of Liberty

The toughest call was between MGS4 and MGSV. I gave the edge to Guns of the Patriots because, while the story fell apart at times, it felt more like what I want from a MGS game than Phantom Pain did, even if MGSV had better gameplay.

2. Rocket League

Is this free on the PS4? Still figuring out how to wander around my PS4. As I have just watched Blu Ray's and inserted the COD:BO3 disc.

Nothing else, really.

I don't think it's free (I don't have a ps4). It's probably $20 like it is on Steam. Might be able to catch it for sale.
