Z in Florida

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've never bought LeBron's talk about how much respect and admiration he has for Z. The Cavs plodding, half court offense of the last seven years had as much to do with Z as any other player. And it's well known that LeBron was sick of playing at such a slow pace. But LeBron has told the media repeatedly that Z was a critical component to the team. Like InBoobieWeTrust pointed out, LeBron didn't show up at Z's dinner when the Cavs were trying to get him back last year. LeBron loves Z as much as he's humbled to win the MVP. Does anyone really think LeBron gives a shit about winning Z a title? Fuck me in the ear.

Instead what's going on is that Lebron knows the Heat need someone -- anyone! -- with size and experience to give them some minutes in the post. So he went with old reliable. And I'm willing to bet Z knows this. But he wants a title and is willing to make a deal with the devil. If the Heat do win a title this year, then that's great for Z. But he still kicked the Cavs fanbase in the nuts by following LeBron. Trust is earned and easily broken.

Everything in that story is PR spin 101. LeBron talks about how he actually cares about someone other than himself. Z tell his new city that he's excited to be there. Blah blah. It's total bullshit.

As far as I know LeBron got over that 5 years ago. LeBron could have set any pace he wanted by just pushing the ball and initiating the offense earlier, but instead used the offensive clock as a means to conserve energy and keep himself on the floor longer. A big part of this is because we often struggled when James was off the floor and could blow a 10pt lead in a matter of a minute. In fact one way we stopped the bleeding was by bringing Z (or Shaq this past year) back in the game when LeBron sat along with other starters like Mo and Delonte.

You can count on the Heat's offense (28th in pace last season) grinding to a halt whenever Wade or James misses a game because they'll have the same issues.
