First, I'm not part of the Cavs marketing department, although this thread is prompted by the ads Cavs.com is running about showing season ticket buyers seats on May 24.
There has been a lot of talk the past year about how 2011-2012 would reflect a big dip in season ticket sales. And that the Q would be half empty this coming year. We know that the value of the franchise took a serious dive, although that's all an estimate and not a real loss at this point. And of course the economy is making a big dent on all extra expenditures.
All that said, now that the Cavs have landed two high draft picks, and the excitement level has increased, I'm wondering if that may stem the tide a bit. Dan Gilbert was asked about ticket sales after the draft lottery and did not show his hand. I think he said they were going well already and left it at that.
I'm curious about what crowds will look like next year. Will season ticket holders that left or were on the fence think about coming back? Do other fans expect to go to more or less games next year than in 2011-2012? Does it depend more on other factors such as whether the team shows promising signs at the start or other factors (like the economy or ticket prices).
As for me, I'm hoping to go to a few more games than last year so I can see the progress of rebuilding. Counting down already, to be honest.
