Agreed. There's no way they do it - not now at least - UNLESS its' for this guy:
Sorry BMP, but barring a miracle he's gone. Sad, too, because it seems he really wants to stay in the city itself....but he puts winning first (which is obv good/right) and ORL is probably the worst opportunity available for that.

Not sure why you're saying sorry. . . I've said it thousands of times I'd expect him to if they don't make the team better/clear cap space. Only thing is they're not going to trade him for LeBron/Gasol-Bynum-Odom like people fantasize about.
I'd hate to derail the thread but I'd like to ask you a question Butters.
What's the word on Dwight Howard? Is the team confident in keeping him? Or, if not - what type of trade (who) would fans like you deem equal?
Honestly can't say what's going to happen until the off-season really starts. If the team goes after over the hill vets in an effort to win now, I expect he'll be gone, of course barring the team playing out of their minds and winning. If they do nothing to make the team better, he'll be gone. They should be looking to clear cap space OR trade for young "IFs". Unfortunately without knowing how the new CBA is going to look like it's a little tough to know what they plan on doing.
There aren't really any trades that would be close to equal, but I'd hope the Magic would go after lottery picks and a way to dump Arenas or Turk (whoever didn't get cut via amnesty). Even if it meant the Thunder matching whatever off Westbrook gets, then trading him to a lottery team for their #1 picks for the next year or two, swinging those picks our way while we gave them Howard and someone like Turk and tried to get an expiring or two from both the Thunder and said lottery team. Obviously that's just a weird scenario but that's because I don't know how teams are going to look like 6 months from now, as well as the cap situation.
Both sides being optimistic about the Amnesty Clause is good for Orlando, though. Hopefully they don't think that because Dallas won this year that they can try to get tons of vets and do the same. Dwight may say he wants to win this year and blahblahblah but if he's not signing an extension the team HAS to do what's best for them AND for Howard and clear cap space (go after guys like Andre Miller and Camby) and even if they suck, at least next year with Arenas being cut, the team will be able to tell Dwight "Look, we sucked for a year but now we have enough space to give you another star, something we weren't gonna be able to do last year" I'd rather see Dwight unhappy for a year, become a FA, and then re-sign with a guy like DWill or CP3 than see him somewhat happy for a year, having a disappointing loss in the playoffs again, become a FA, and then leave after realizing the team didn't have much future with all those overpaid vets they acquired.
It's a gamble every way but it's better if they were to lose Howard it'd be better to lose him while having cap space and scrubs that'd guarantee a lottery pick over losing him and being stuck with a bunch of crappy vets and no chance at a lottery pick/cap space. For this same reason is why you don't just trade him to any team. As a Franchise you have to understand you have to also go against the team you trade him to and if the Magic have any championship aspirations they won't trade him to Miami for one of Wade or LeBron, and if they have any sort of common sense they won't trade him for a bunch of 3rd bananas and MLE guys that can be acquired mid first round and in FA (like Denver did).
People say it's better to get something rather than nothing, and I read it here too, but I find it odd. Right now, would you rather be Denver, who has no lottery picks and barely any room to get better (or worse), or would you rather be Cleveland, with a #1 and #4 pick, some young guys, most likely another lottery pick on the way next year, and at most $40million in the payroll for 2012/2013? The Nuggets are probably going to extend Nene and if they don't want to lose out on the guys they traded for they're gonna have to start handing out QOs and matching offers or lose them and making the whole process of acquiring them pointless, almost counter productive.
