Matthew Dellavedova

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Matthew Dellavedova

Its amazing the way this guy can rebound, fly into transition and find team mates. If he ever learns to shoot, he is a hall of famer. And his magnificent head of hair will never fade away. The high top fade will never fade away, do you hear? Never! Crystal fucking Pepsi!!

Happy?

Re: Matthew Dellavedova

I think people (well, me) have had more to say about Dellavedova than some other fringe players because he seemed to have the inside-track to the job and because he played so many minutes this preseason. He was 4th in total minutes for the Cavs, behind only Bennett, Irving, and Thompson. They were clearly invested in seeing what he could do once the injuries to Waiters, Jack, and Felix opened up more time.

Even though they sometimes say that preseason games don't mean much in terms of roster cuts (practice is just as important), for the Cavs this year, the minutes rundown went from Dellavedova and Sims at the top, then down to Taylor, Kadji, Williams, and Diop.

Re: Matthew Dellavedova

I think he is worth a look because of his success in college, and because as Wuck said, a lot of his mistakes were rookie problems like getting in the air to pass, the cross court passes I mentioned, and some other risky passes that don't work in the NBA.

He really is not at such a disadvantage athletically as I thought. He is not that speedy, but he looks strong, and he can fit in the system. Lengthy quick pg defenders are going to give him trouble, but hopefully he will not ever start for us. He is a possibility as a career backup, and surely a guy known for shooting 3 pointers won't be this terrible shooting his entire career.

Three point criticism of college 3pt specialist in their rookie year is horse shit. Almost everyone has to adjust to the new distance. Guys that don't are the very best pure shooters in the game.

Re: Matthew Dellavedova (training camp invite)

I have never felt stronger about a player as I do Dellavedova...he is awful, we can do better

Dellavedova is not an nba level player

Can't create any separation from summer league let alone nba guards
doesn't get to the free throw line (not even once in summer league)
doesn't score efficiently (27% fg, 20% 3pt in summer league)
is a major liability defensively
3.0 apg to 2.7 to's in summer league

:chuckles::chuckles::chuckles::chuckles:

Re: Matthew Dellavedova

Purely theoretical here since I don't think we've been linked to him anywhere, but now that Kendall Marshall is a free agent, would you guys rather have him than Dellavedova?

Dova is probably the better practice player.

I would take him in a heartbeat over Delly. Kendall Marshall is pure PG and could be very useful if Jack or Kyrie are injured. Kendall didn't had real chance with Suns, but i am sure Cavs could develop him and let him learn from Jack, Kyrie, AV, Tristan, and if is necessary sent him to Canton. There is a lot more potential in Kendall than in Delly.

Re: Matthew Dellavedova

I also think that Marshall will have some opportunities and most of them will not include an All-Star/potential All-NBA point guard and also a previous 6th man of the year back up PG ahead of him.

Re: Matthew Dellavedova

I'd rather have Delly for his size, athleticism and scoring chops.

Well, there's a sentence I never thought I'd have to say.

Didn't people used to complain that Mike Brown didn't play Gibson enough and was unfair to him? :dunno:

Re: Matthew Dellavedova

Boobie was athletic enough he just couldnt dribble or run an offense, delly can, and he wont have to start in the NBA finals like boobie had to as a rookie

Guy posted similar %s to what Keys probably would if you threw him out there:
