2014 Winter Olympics (Sochi, Russia)

Beyond screwing up the accommodations, they have royally ruined the Snowboard Slopestyle course (the first time the event has been held in the Olympics)

The course is so dangerous and so poorly built that Torstein Horgmo who was one of the favorites to win already broke his collarbone in practice, another one was taken off the course on a stretcher, and Shaun White who was obviously the overall favorite just dropped out because the course is too dangerous after almost breaking his wrist yesterday.

I've mentioned this on here before, but I've worked professionally in snowboarding and with pro snowboarders for years, and I see up close and personal the ridiculous, dangerous stuff they are more than willing to do on a daily basis, so if these guys are sketched out by this course, then it is really really really bad.

Always a fun tradition to watch Curling on MSNBC with the studio host who never looks directly at the fucking camera.

I'm trying to get my manager to let us watch some of the matches. It's not working so far.

Really hope nothing negative happens at the games, but I'm kind of nervous something will. Russia is getting crushed by the media (rightfully so) for all the screw-ups already and the games haven't even started. I love the Olympics, but at some point in time the IOC's arrogance and corruption are going to leave a permanent scar on the event.

Anyways, first event at 1:00 AM (3 hours from now).

Allow me to say the NBC online streaming fucking sucks this year. Whoever designed the NBC Olympics website needs fired. 2012 was so much better.

Ahhh if only the writers bitching about Sochi would've done their fucking homework. I've been to Russia twice, once as a boy and once as a twenty-something. Fun both times, it's very different but it's not nearly as bad as these writers (and the media in general) are making it out to be. The whole toilet issue is a joke, people acting like every restroom in Russia has no privacy is exaggerating-- It was just a mistake by the construction crew in one of the facilities.

The biggest problem with Sochi is that it's a summer resort town and is hardly used in the winter time. Now throw in millions of people, TV crews, spoiled journalists and shit can get kinda funky. The accommodations and some of the other intricacies will all be demo'd or moved or transported out of Sochi at the end of the games-- the Russians are notoriously cheap so why splurge on a two week event? The games never should been awarded to Sochi, they should be in Salzburg, Austria where theres a much great infrastructure, but it is what it is....
