A Closer Look at Joel Embiid's Injured Foot

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Trading down (unless it's one or two spots) assures nothing but possibly missing out on the guy you want. There's a reason teams tanked this year. Cavs need a ransom or no way.

Many act like Embiid was a lock to go #1. He was not. He was in the top three, and then opinions varied. Even if healthy, some thought the center position has been devalued through the years. Moreover, many forget that he had a stress fracture in his back. The fact that he now has one in his foot could mean he has a propensity to get stress fractures. Many knew he was talented, but the knock on him was his health. That concern has been amplified.

I'm not sure if it has been posted yet, but here ya go.
Who knows what is in Joel Embiid's medical records? According to ESPN.com's Chad Ford in a podcast with Bill Simmons posted Tuesday afternoon, only Cleveland and Milwaukee had been given Embiid's medical information. Later Tuesday afternoon, an NBA source confirmed to CSNPhilly.com that the Sixers are also among the teams that have Embiid's medical records. The thing is Embiid's physical was performed by the Cavs, and shared with the Bucks in trade for Jabari's physical. 76ers has a medical record, but have they done a physical?

Arn Tellem is locking Embiid up hard (and Parker really, he has only worked out for Cavs and Bucks, and refused every other team). I really think Arn Tellem is trying to force Embiid to free fall down to the Celtics or Lakers. Will Magic or Jazz take an injured big man without medical records or physical?

Maybe already discussed but didnt ford also note that there were some blood work abnormalities with the guy. I was sallivating on drafting this guy-no longer. Stay far far away.

If we want Embiid still, we know we can gain assets in the process. Draft Wiggins, demand the world from Philly or Orlando to trade for Wiggins, pull the trigger only if Embiid is still there.

Probably traded it for the info they have on Exum....

absolute wrong way to look at it... he's not gonna be able to keep doing it if the foot gets worse or turns into a nagging injury.

If it does. If it doesn't then it isn't even fair to compare the other prospects to him.

But they shut him down and did surgery on it before it got to that point...
It's like people have a fetish of scaring themselves.

I love all the made up rumors of his health. knee issues, bad bloodwork (whatever that means lol) So much obvious misinformation

The pick is still Embid. Always was and always will be. Cleveland Clinic is best medical facility which any NBA team has. If he was going to another team, that team would obtain full medical on him. Has anyone heard that such info has been provided? No....why not? Because he's going to the Cavs.

Exum is the "backup".

Cavs only care about figuring out whether they can bluff Philly into giving #3 and #10 (plus either some seconds or have Philly use the 2nds to get another first) or whether to take Affalo, #4 and #12.

They will take Wiggins. They will trade with either Philly or Orlando who will then get Wiggins. We will get the player we want (Embid) and then either keep the picks or (this part is my hope) trade Affalo, the #12, our #33 and two of the following: (a) one of next year's first round picks along with (b) one of Waiters, Bennett or Thompson AND Scotty Hopson (for $1.4 million of salary cap) OR trade #10, Philly's late first round choice acquired with a bunch of the seconds, our #33 and two players of Waiters, Bennett and Thompson and Scotty Hopson FOR LOVE.

Then, you can offer LBJ the opportunity to play with Irving, Waiters/Jack/Bennett with LBJ playing the position vacated by Waiters or Bennett other SF, SG, Love, and Zeller / Varajao. If Love leaves, then Embid is your 3rd "star". Minnesota MUST make this trade as they will not get a haul like this later in the year (a top 12 pick, another first rounder or Affalo, another early 2nd rounder(s), and another good young player(s) in Waiters or Bennett or Thompson and/or another first next year). I sure would love to trade Jack for Marcus Thorton and replace Affalo for Thorton.

If you have to acquire Exum instead of Embid, then you still can still get Love (although Waiters would be gone for sure...much to my dismay).

The main thing is that these trades get us Love and allow us to compete for an Eastern crown now (even without LeBron), protect us once Love leaves (still have Embid or Exum) and somewhat of a talented young nucleus (here's hoping we keep Waiters, then Bennett, then Thompson although I suppose the opposite is more likely) to go with Irving and the Embid/Exum player (along with salary room to get someone to replace Love in 2015).

not a chance. By the time Embiid's body stops falling apart, he will be a lesser version of himself. Exum only if Kyrie is traded because Lebron is coming back.
