At some inevitable point, San Antonio or Golden State is going to try to beat us by going small. This is an undeniable fact. You shouldn't be surprised when they try it.
With the way the league is shaking up, I don't think Mozgov is good enough to be on the floor in the biggest moments of the game. Rather than block the shots at the rim, it's more valuable to have a 1st line of defense and don't even allow them to get to the rim. Mozgov's hands are shit, his confidence is fractured; he looks like a player who should be on the soulless Houston Rockets.
What the Cavaliers need the absolute most, is another swingman defender to back up LeBron James. Richard Jefferson should be our last option, if we could get a player like PJ Tucker, he could very well be on the floor in those deciding moments.
The Cavs won't even think about using Mozgov in the clutch. Especially not after this start to the season. He's just too fucking clumsy and not playing with enough passion.
I think it's more likely that we'll see more of the same from Mozgov than to think he's going to experience a miraculous comeback and be the player he was last year. I would bank on teams beating Cleveland with small-ball than bank on Mozgov turning Ben Wallace for a series.
When we inevitably play the Spurs or the Warriors, you are going to have to deal with Igoudala, Barnes, Draymond
Or the Spurs Leonard, Green, and Diaw.
If you know anything about these teams, it's that players like Diaw, Igoudals and Draymond can kill you with their versatility, especially passing.
We really need another player to do the "dirty work" and allow LeBron to guard a lesser player. Iman Shumpert is that kind of player, but he's not big enough to guard Diaw or Draymond.
You can't reasonably expect LeBron to do everything he does offensively, rebound and assist at a high level and then also ask Bron to guard Iggy AND Draymond.
Tucker would be a fucking god-send! David Griffin has contacts in Phoenix, and their situation is really bad. Their owner is notoriously cheap, and they happen to have something we need really fucking bad. I think the snaggle will be re-routing Tyson Chandler who Phoenix now inevitably wants to rid themselves of, but he's 34 and paid for 3.5 more seasons.
