The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You can already do two of those things with the Wii U.

I have a Wii U, and yes, you can play on the couch (which is why I really enjoy it as a system). However, when I walk more than 10 feet away (i.e. the start of the hallway that leads to my bedroom) from the system, I lose signal. The Wii U was a half measure. The Switch represents the full scope of their original idea.

In going to plug my Wii U into my bedroom when Zelda comes out.

I did that once, but it was more of a pain in the ass than it was worth. My Wii U is my only home console device (I have a 2DS too) and it also our Netflix box for our living room, so it needs to stay where it is all the time.

Im using my ps3 for that(bed room). We also have an apple tv. A big fuck you to comcast for not allowing hbo go to be used on a ps3 for who the fuck knows!

What do you mean they won't allow it?

If they're peering in on your packets, you can setup your PS3 to use your PC as a SOCKS5 proxy; that way, all traffic to and from the PS3 will be encrypted and they'll have no way of distinguishing between your PC and the Playstation.

You need to register your device with hbo go and you pick your provider. Comcast isn't in the list.

Everyone needs to play Thumper for the PS4... That game is so intense.

They probably could compete if they released more high-powered hardware, but their reputation among hardcore gamers is more than a bit damaged at this point, and without a glut of third-party support, it's hard to see the average gamer buying a new Nintendo system when they've already got a PS4 or an Xbone.

Nintendo basically missed the boat this generation, so unless they were going to release something drastically more powerful than the two consoles currently on the market, they are already too far behind to catch up. Plus, Nintendo basically demands that they turn a profit on console sales, which means releasing a high-powered machine is essentially off the table at this point. And so they do something different and try to suck people in that way.

And I have to admit, making a portable console that can play current-gen hits isn't a terrible idea.

This, and it's why you saw them focus the first marketing piece at millennials just playing games. After gameplay gimmicks the last two generations (waggle and touch), they are trying to win back gamers who have been turned off by Nintendo's Wii years. I think the "gimmick" this time around of being able to take your game on the go could win over enough of those that are not the hardest of hardcore (i.e. don't care about 4k gaming) and would be excited to be to take their gaming on the go.

That being said, I fully expect this thing to have a touch screen, and I think one of their big marketing pushes will be to go after casuals who try Nintendo's mobile games that will be coming in the near future. I could also see this being marketed to parents as a "cheap" way to give kids their own tablet for gaming instead of having to use their devices all the time.

Get Thumper for the PS4 VR and or alone. The game is amazing in every way. Two men made this and it really is intense beyond anything you played before. That said while I love Thumper so very much. I did wind down with DQ Builders and man what a great night it was.

Anyone running Battlefield 1 or Destiny on XB1? If so feel free to add me!
