Trade Rumor(s)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Cavs could trade their 2020 first right now, and no seconds to trade.

I balk at that 15 mil number. This isn't last season where everyone has space, and he'll be over 30. Not that many teams will have 15mil in space, and they aren't going to blow it all an Thabo.

Maybe.. you can never know today. no 2nd to trade because the Cavs just traded them for no friggin reason. 2020 for an expiring is just too much even with protections. Don't you think so?

I don't know which guy has higher value and will take more to get, but I'd take the lesser guy. Korver could just serve as the replacement to what Dunleavy is supposed to be. He'd be quite useful off the bench here.

Last big paycheck I guess.. he is going to get more than 15m a year. Do the Cavs have any 2nd round picks? a 1st is a big overpay..

No worry. As of 2nd rounder, Cavs have: 1.right to Cedi; 2.lesser of Minny/LAL 2019 2nd round (Christmas trade); 3.you.

No real opinion here -- but would people do Shump + Dunleavy for Thabo + Korver?

Cavs save money on the deal (probably 18M?), Thabo is a clear defensive upgrade on Shumpert, and historically about the same as a 3PT shooter (though Shump has taken steps forward this year). Korver is an upgrade over Dunleavy at this point in their careers.

Atlanta gets a player under a reasonable contract for the next two years, while we get older players on expiring contracts.

Could use the money we save on this deal to go out and get a PG or C.... e.g. a Salary dump of Deron Williams?

I would do it, but not sure why they would. Probably have to throw in a first, Korver is by the best player in this deal.

I think the end cost is too high and dont want to get as much older as this would make us as Korver is 35 and Thabo is 32.

I would just love to see how Korver would look with Lebron, I wanna see it!

We don't need another shooter. JR will come back and he'll be lights out. We need a guy who will D up against the guys in GS.

PJ Tucker, come on down!

In what league is Thabo Sefolosha looking at getting 15 million a year?

Cause he sure won't get that from the NBA.

If the Cavs feel Thabo is the missing piece to winning it all, then no, trading Osman is not a mistake. It's a no-brainer.

How many more years do you guys really think we can compete for a title? LeBron is 32 years old.

With Kyrie, Kevin, and Tristan stepping up this year and performing so well, I think we have at least another 3-4 years of Championship contention, especially considering how difficult it will be for GS to maintain it's core due to rising salaries.

Heck, MJ came back and played at a very high level past age 40. I don't see why LBJ can't play with our core for several more years if he decides to do it.

Michael Jordan didn't log nearly as many minutes as LeBron at 32. It's not about age, it's the minutes. LB has logged enough minutes for a full NBA career already.

True, but I don't think 3-4 years more of contention with a core of LBJ, Kyrie, Kevin, and TT is unrealistic at all.

I also think we should wait to see how Liggins really performs, and McRae and Felder play out while JR is injured before we trade away what could become a very good young player in Cedi.

I love Thabo's tenacity. And he's offensively better than credit given to him, he's definitely better than RJ for example. I don't know if he's an acknowledged Durant stopper, but if he is... you seriously have to consider moving for him.

A 1st for him is out of the question, but all other assets should be considered. Cedi looks exciting, but... he could never be a NBA level player..

It does solve the Mo/Birdman luxury tax problems, so it frees up Gilbert to potentially spend more in the future. If Thabo re-signs, we get another vet wing for nothing off the current team.

Unless you think we're going to fall off a cliff in 3 years, a 2020 1st doesn't mean a whole lot to me. If you think we can eventually net a better player/asset for it than Thabo, then keep it, but I don't think that's cost prohibitive.

Thabo is in his early 30s. So, if he doesn't fall off the map, he probably has 3-4 years left.

Tough minded defenders like him have a long shell life for the record.

Cedi at best is a rotational player down the road IMO. Thabo is one already. I don't see the big deal if we had to part with him.

Even if he comes over next year, he's probably a couple years away from making a significant impact. We don't have that time to wait around. We are in the middle of a title run. Help now, or not wanted IMO.
