2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm a huge Kizer guy. I just believe he's the future. Needs development but isnt that why Hue is here? I've seen the talent. I know it's there. Doesn't mean he'll be good but thats more than I can say for most of the QBs we've drafted recently.

I agree, and I really have no facts or reasoning to stand behind it either. Just a gut feeling. I just get a solid vibe with not just Kiser, but the direction of this team in general (if they can avoid the injury bug to key players).

I don't know if it's because he's not Johnny Manziel, or a 30 some year old rookie like Weeden was, but I can't help but think he will be a better pro QB than he was a college QB. I think much of this optimistic feeling has to do with the Browns getting him in the late 2nd round without the "franchise/savior QB" expectation that comes with 1st round guys. I really just love the value of where we got him versus what the Bears, Texans, and Chiefs did with their 1st round QBs, who IMO are no better prospects than Kizer.

Agreed on all counts. I too am feeling generally positive about the regime. I just want them to stick with it. Barring a disastrous year, they should be allowed to execute their plan for next draft where we have those 2 firsts and 3 seconds. That combined with the 2017 draft are literally franchise defining moments; if they hit on the majority of those picks, the Browns will be officially back. If they flub most of them, we will suck and people will get fired. But the opportunity is right there. I'm pretty high on this year's class, and we'll see how it translates to the field. Even if Kizer isn't the guy (and like I said, I think he is, long term) we are still in good position, because we only used a 2nd on him and have a haul of picks for 2018. Now I'm REALLY hoping he shows we should move forward with him, so those picks can be used to add more studs and playmakers at other positions. Boy that'd be a dream scenario.

Should be interesting to watch play out.

Couldn't agree more. I love the way the Browns have leveraged themselves for next year. If Kizer shows promise this year to be "the guy" then they add blue chip talent with 5 picks in the top two rounds. If Kizer doesn't show much, then they'll 1) be picking super high and 2) have picks stockpiled to trade up and get their top QB. I'm with you... it all comes down to showing progress so guys don't get fired. This group has been the most impressive so far since the rebuild, and Haslam better not have a quick trigger finger with them.
