Curt Schilling got fired for questioning bathrooms.

Nobody should argue this, Jemele should be let go without question due to ESPN's history alone, I guess she has ESPN's balls in her purse.
Let's not pretend that one ideology gets to speak and the other does too. It's pretty obvious that some people can't say some things or the clergy will banish them

How do you define "within reason"? Sounds like that slope be could slippery @David.

Question: Guy at work says "Ugh, gay people are disgusting and sub-human. Really really hate dem gays!". He says this within ear shot of a homosexual employee, who of course is offended. The employee feels uncomfortable being near this person at work now, informs HR of the situation. Since this is not the first time this person has brazenly offended another employee, that person is terminated.

Do you have a problem with this chain of events? Or, should the offended employee go kick rocks?
That's a good question, and I agree that it would be hard to define. That hypothetical scenario is pretty obvious though and wasn't really the kind that I was talking about. There are many other cases where it isn't nearly that straightforward.

A lot of the time it seems social media related. Someone says something that someone else thinks is "offensive" and then the employer is pressured into firing them.

"The former Red Sox pitcher has been very open about his conservative views in the past. He was previously suspended by ESPN for comparing ISIS to the Nazis.

ESPN might have no problem getting rid of conservative pundits, but the network has tolerated extreme liberal positions in the past without firing anybody. ESPN employee Tony Kornheiser compared the Tea Party to ISIS and insinuated the Tea Party was attempting to “establish a caliphate.”

Kornheiser is still cashing pay checks from ESPN."

Not sure what Schilling did exactly, but if his comments were hostile towards lgbtq people, then that's unacceptable because ESPN has the responsibility to provide a nonhostile work environment for lgbtq people :dunno:

I think people are more upset about the double standards than they are about Schilling being fired. At least that's how I feel.

I dunno...I feel like Hill's comments were more similar to a conservative person saying "abortion is murder!" for example. Controversial, poor taste, but it's a political statement that's not directly hostile to coworkers. Slap on the wrist is appropriate for that kind of thing.

Honestly I could see someone saying that about abortion getting fired for it. Idk. Hill has a history of saying stupid things like this. It isn't an isolated case so I'm judging her more harshly than I normally would.

Its a sports show, they don't have an obligation to do anything but show highlights.

What would a liberal person need to say to deserve to be fired?

Like if Jemele's comments about Trump didn't deserve firing, how much farther would she have needed to go?

Nothing bro. There's nothing they could do. It's all slanted hard left.

Well, the most straightforward things i can think of would be statements that are dehumanizing or threatening to white people, straight people, cis people, Christians, etc.

Calling a public figure a white supremacist when they're not is dehumanizing

Well yeah, if Trump were her coworker and she called him a white supremacist, that would arguably be a fireable offense. But he's not...he's a public figure, as you said. It's a big stretch to say calling Trump a white supremacist is dehumanizing to all white people.

Lol.

But people cant judge Trump on his long history of getting shit done instead of his entertainment persona and the MSMs fake controversies?

King of moving goal posts you are.

Wut.
