Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Last night I recorded NBA TV during the Cavs game, just because they were laying into the Cavs during halftime.

Just went back to listen. Sam Mitchell and Isaiah actually had some good points about old legs and not enough young hungry players on the court. I also thought they had a good point mentioning the Cavs small ball lineup being older and slower than rebuilding teams when they go small with a younger group.

But then it started getting really entertaining. They started talking up the Knicks as a talent that can keep up with the Cavs, other teams all over the league believing they are just as talented as the Cavs. They defended the French player shoving LeBron repeatedly. That's where I just started chuckling... Oh really?

Lots of crow for NBA TV commentators throughout the late 3rd early 4th quarters. Good times.

Do you think teams feel like they can defend Lebron now more than ever? in 1 on 1 situations?

Losing Kyrie maybe gave teams that confidence that the Cavs no longer have that unstoppable 1 on 1 wizards for them to save the day when the going gets tough.

Underrated part of Kyrie's game on this team was to give Lebron a breather on the floor. He didnt have to do a thing for Kyrie when he took the job upon himself. I bet it put much more pressure on Lebron to be the sole creator and catalyst for the Cavs offense.

Once IT gets back it might revert back to how it was, but I want this time for Lebron to actually play with IT and not do turns.

Single coverage has definitely been easier on LeBron than in years past. Definitely a worry of mine e if he doesn't have the same gravity

Its hard to judge this team until it gets an actual pg in IT. There hasn't been any stability in the roster in the first 14 games with so many guys missing games here and there.

I'm hoping that IT brings some of the team offense from the Celtics to the Cavs, and that by doing so, it will bring Crowder back to life.

Also, if it has the added benefit of taking pressure off of LBJ, then that's great too.

But, at the end of the day, we just need another playmaker and shooter. So, no matter what happens, I think IT will improve our team if he's healthy.

I don't believe LeBron is really "at fault" as much as some people claim. He's doing his usual 1/2 speed thing in the regular season, not carrying the team on his back the whole game and instead feeling out what his teammates can and can't do. When you see Jay Crowder, Kevin Love, Jeff Green, and Dwayne Wade attempting more shots while LBJ is shooting over 60% from the floor, you can bet he is just toying with the opponent.

That's said, LeBron has a bit of a supporting cast crisis. He trusts Korver, he wants to trust Wade but the results aren't always there. He wants to see Crowder acclimate, but this far Jeff Green has been much more effective in that co-forward role.

I'm also excited when Thomas joins because in my opinion, Rose and Wade don't have as much left in the tank as LeBron had hoped. At the same time, I expect Thomas to energize Crowder and Love, whomever he has a rapport with on the offensive side already. That should help the first group find more cohesion.

The biggest problem is the energy level. Say what you want about TT but his energy is missed. I also don't see the bigs banging for rebounds, like they expect the spirit of TT to show up and get the rebound for them. They are also just going through the motions most nights. I also join the list who believe more Zizic and Cedi - even if they aren't out playing a few veterans in practice - would just raise the energy level of vets on the floor. Our vets don't appear to give a shit, knowing the playoffs are inevitable. That's not good.

Yep.

Switching a big against Lebron is much more effective nowadays. We need his shot to be on point because I'm not sure he can take or is willing to take big man off the dribble given space.

Lebron is much more effective when switched against a smaller guy to attack from the post. I expect to see a lot of Korver screening to switch Redick against Lebron, but to make this the most effective we are going to need to have the best shotoers on the floor so we are going to surrender some rebounds and defense at the 4/5.

TT is lacking energy and what made him impactful in the first place. He is currently ranked dead last for Centers in RPM. I know it's a small sample size, but he needs to bring his old mojo back or he is just a big negative.

Lots of miles on those wheels. I'm glad his games played streak is dead. He absolutely lost what made him worth the playing time, and I believe it was due to over use.

This rest can do only good. HE doesn't need to get back into rhythm or work on his shot because he is TT. Just needs to come back strong.

Too bad the other issue with the Kardashian is there to stay.

He had a knee injury before getting injured. I’m hoping the knee injury was the reason he sucked and this rest will heel his knee.

Lebron also said : Oh Really??? Then he said to Kanter...you got punked on your home court.
Poor Kanter.. was he intimidating???

We should look into favors. He looks so much better as a c than a pf. That’s a much more natural role for him. He’s got the size inside we need and is a good defender with a very nice offensive game for a center. He’s a much better defender as a C than PF. I’d rather have him than love. And I’m sure Utah would rather have love than favors. Their spacing sucks.

Clippers keep struggling is there any chance we deal for DeAndre Jordan?

Obviously not the Nets pick included.

Jesus Love for Favors would be such a terrible move for the Cavs.

Love is a consistent 20/10, all-star, elite floor spacer who is awesome in the locker room, never complains no matter how much he gets shit on, and works hard on being in shape and improving weaknesses.

Last year he had one of the best defensive years of his career and even was able to play relatively well defensively(mostly when at the 5) against GS in the Finals.

Like this is seriously crazy talk. Our wing-heavy line-up with Love at the 5 was basically the only lineup that actually didn’t get murdered by the Warriors.

IT/JR/Bron/Crowder/Love , IMO, is going to be better than our best warriors lineup from last year. Plus we have Wade and Green to throw into different combos at different points of the game. And even a Shump looks like he’s way better when barely being counted on as your 4th or 5th wing rather than being relied on as your #2 or 3 wing.

And that’s not even including any potential trade or buy-out addition.

Favors has become a decent defender but has always had the Gobert crutch. Really no interest in swapping Love for Favors so he can clog the paint and complain about lack of post touches (it’s not 1995 anymore)

Then he becomes a FA this summer and will probably ask for 20 million. No fricken thank you.

Love is just a flat out better player on a better contract.

You are being too generous towards Love, but Favors would be a bad trade even if they add more. I wouldn't mind Ingles though in some package.. underrated player.

I wouldn't be surprised if Gobert would be on the block soon. He has had a down year though. HE is usually at the top of RPM, but this year he is barely a positive.

What would you trade for Gobert?
