Anything that could ever benefit the Cavs in any way obviously won't happen. How could I forget that

Kyrie was still more valuable as a trade piece than Dame would be. Not by a wide margin but still higher.

You really need to give up the “gimp knee” nonsense. Kyrie’s got a minor knee issue from his past injury that will need to be cleaned up with a scope. It’s not that big of a deal , lol... Certainly hasn’t hampered his play as he’s kinda had his best offensive season yet despite not having LBJ drawing all the attention away from him.
Irving not joining Celtics on their road trip and seeking 2nd opinion on his knee sounds sorta serious . If it was something simple like a cleaning , he wouldn’t need a 2nd opinion. Sounds like the 1st opinion told him he’s fucked .

He’s known about this issue for sometime now . Wasn’t this part of his ploy to hold out if he wasn’t traded ?

Again with taking everything in to consideration, I believe Dame is a safer bet moving forward, if there was choice between him and Kyrie . It’s quite possible he’s on his last contract with 2 years remaining .Busted up knee caps ain’t no joke .

Pick will end at 8 th. Not good.

Not ideal? Sure. Not good? Not necessarily:

8th: Kemba Walker
9th: DeMar DeRozan
9th: Gordon Hayward
9th: Andre Drummond
10th: Paul George
10th: CJ McCollum
11th: Klay Thompson
12th: Steven Adams
12th: Dario Saric
15th: Kawhi Leonard
15th: Giannis

And this is a draft that is considered one of the better of the past 10-12 years in terms of top end talent.

And if you feel good about how Zicic and Cedi look, you should feel good about the guy running the draft.

Now yes, that’s purely on a player drafted outlook. Certainly if the pick ended up in the top5, that’s a game changer on the trade front. Which is important.

Ok dude, Portland's gonna trade us Damian Lillard in the off-season for an expiring contract and a mid lottery pick.

Your mood swings are impressive. A couple of nights ago you're in full on meltdown mode about the Nets pick, now today it's rather plausible Portland's gonna trade us Lillard, who is having his best overall season on a team having its best overall season, for said pick.

Impossible to keep up with.

Lillard is a guy you only trade if A) he's on the last year of his deal and isn't staying...and that's it. There's no other way you trade him, at least not after the season he's in the middle of having.

THe only reason we traded Irving for the pick is because of the very, extremely unique LeBron situation of him being on his last year. We couldn't throw a season away. I promise you if LeBron was signed for multiple years, that trade doesn't happen and we call Irving's bluff (or trade him for a different star, like Jimmy Butler).

Cavs gambled on the trade....

We'll see what happens, but .. yeah, it's not looking great.

According to FiveThirtyEight we’re still projected to finish 7th with Knicks at 8th and Mavericks getting the 9th pick.

The Bulls are 8th currently but projected to finish 5th. At this point we have to root for other teams to win games because the Bulls are being ridiculously heavy handed (I’m actually impressed)

Our hopes of being top 5-6 also require a Nets loss tonight vs Hornets and a loss to Orlando by the end of the month. 2 Bulls games are huge but it will be about possibly staying below Dallas and Sacramento instead of holding off the Bulls.

Evan Fournier being out for a while also hurts. Magic haven’t had Vucivic, Gordon and Fournier play together much. It’s always 1 or 2 guys out for an extended time

At this point, Magic games no longer matter unless they're playing the Kings or Bulls. Magic aren't catching the Nets.

I wouldn't say the odds are great for the Nets to catch the Magic, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Orlando has by far the easiest remaining schedule among those in the tank race. By comparison:
  • Brooklyn has 3 remaining games against tanking teams (ORL and 2 against CHI), plus 2 against non-playoff teams (CHA and DET)
  • Orlando has 6 remaining games against tanking teams (PHX, BKN, CHI, ATL, NYK, and DAL), plus one against a non-playoff team (CHA)
The BKN/ORL game is crucial. If ORL wins, the Nets are only one game back from ORL with ORL having an easier schedule.

Kyrie played in 3 nba finals against the warriors.

In 2015 he played one game.

In 2016 he was healthy and effective.

In 2017 he was nursing several issues and then busted his ankle in game 5 and the Cavs basically played the 2nd half with him playing at 60 percent....

Kyrie is now heading in to the 2018 playoffs with suspicious health once again. He is not what anyone would consider a tough player and the idea that he is the center piece of Boston’s future is laughable. He’s a big piece but I don’t think Ainge wants everything hinging on him.

They’ve clearly built a team and a system where one piece will not control their destiny...

If you want the actual details:He has knee tendinitis and needs a scope(6-8 week recovery time) to clean out the knee. No actual structural damage. Just needs fluid drained /loose stuff removed pretty much.

He’s basically deciding if it’s worth it to
risk a playoff run without having the scope. It’s mainly as issue of pain management but the prior kneecap injury does add another risk factor. If I were him I would get the scope now and come back 100% with Hayward next year. But we’ll see.

Same thing happened in LBJs first year here. Nothing was structurally wrong but Kyries knee was bothering him. He got diagnosed with tendinitis and the Cavs cleared him to play if he could handle the pain.

Then he ended up breaking he kneecap, which actually made the Cavs look bad and Kyries camp was up in arms pointing fingers...but ultimately there was no way to definitively link the kneecap injury to the previous tendinitis and any specialist around the country will tell you that.

The easiest decision in the world is for Kyrie to have the surgery now and be ready with a loaded team next year. Yeah they become 1st/2nd round fodder but Tatum gets some playoff experience under his belt. If he plays I can see it getting worse with him leaving the game in crutches with his father hovering around him, cursing Ainge under his breath.

I always get weary when people talk about minor "clean-up" scope or surgeries on players knees. Not sure there is such a thing, just look at Mozgov. He was supposed to have a minor clean-up procedure and it pretty much derailed his career.

If BOS is smart they handle it with kid gloves, but given their history wouldn't surprise me if they advise him to play.

From what I've read, it's not about knee tendinitis and more about possibly needing the screws removed from his knee.

I don't remember him being healthy in any year including our championship run. His body betrays him often but the guy is tough and guts it out and although unwise he will do it again with screws and all. One thing that isn't so great on those joints are what has made him a household name, his crossovers. He puts so much pressure on his knees and ankles while trying to break the opponents knees and ankles.
