Five Bold Predictions for 2018

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
A lot more negativity than usual in here. So, fuck you all.

1) Everyone on the Indians has stellar years

2) Indians win the World Series.

That's only two, but fuck it.

Those aren't bold predictions

1. Yandy Diaz wins gold glove at 3B to add to his minor league fielding awards

2. Tyler Naquin hits 40 bombs. Tito retires from pure shame for demoting Naquin to AAA all of 2017

3. ZMac finally gets the recognition for being a great cribbage player w/o Shaw in his way

4. Baker Mayfield throws out the first pitch on April 27 after being drafted #1 overall. Fastball right down the middle to display that pinpoint accuracy

I can't think of a 5th

Thanks, Stark, for startring the BOLD PREDICTION thread.

1. Bradley Zimmer takes the game by the balls, is game's latest breakout star OFer.
Does too many things too well, takes that next step into excellentness. Makes the All-Star game. I just see one of those guys who keeps getting better b/c he gets it and works his arse off. Based on current trend, his neck ends up twice as large as head by end of season. He is like a less-ugly Hunter Pence.

2. Several Indians lead the league in SABR-important categories.
Corey Kluber leads the league in ERA, Yonder Alonso leads the league in RBI, and Francisco leads the league in smiles.

3. In bid to make game more exciting for young people, Rob Manfred issues midseason league-wide rule that, beginning in 10th inning, all batters must swagger to the plate like Jose Ramirez.
Not to be outdone, Jose up his own swagger game by adopting Conor McGregor's cage walk.

4. Bullpen suffers greatly with loss of Micky Calloway.
Team struggles to just plug in junk and keep dominating. Carl Willis is great and all, but the 'stache can't make up for Calloway's alchemy. Bullpen goes through serious ups and downs, as does the bottom of the rotation.

5. Team saved in early August by young, stud hurler coming up from the minors.
As the team's bullpen woes start to affect the team with an up-and-coming Twins team breathing down their neck, the season is saved when a forgotton prospect rises like a phoenix from the ashes of the low minors. New life is breathed into the team when- you guessed it- Brady Aiken comes up after finding success after transitioning early in the year. No longer the worst 1st round pick since Darren Kirkreit, Brady re-establishes his spiritual baseball bloodline back to Rapid Robert.

I would predict things like Corey Kluber failing but I don't hate the Indians. Other BOLD possibilities: Lil Cowboy leads the rotation, Yandy Diaz joins bigleague squad fulltime as 3b and parttime as member of grounds crew, Zach McAlister becomes new fan favorite, Indians begin using drone to bring relievers in from bullpen, Trevor Bauer acts like a mature adult, and Andrew Miller falls off a cliff (literally).

1. Tyler Naquin bottoms out, DFA'd.
2. Roberto Perez leading team in OPS suffers lisfranc fracture in May.
3. Mejias rushed to majors where he hits in two starts per week.
4. Zimmer evokes Grady Sizemore comparison, nicknamed "Hell Boy".
5. Yandy Diaz revealed to be 31 year old actually named Oscar Montez-Carillo.

1. Alonzo will out perform Carlos Santana.
2. Kluber, Bauer and CC will all be in contention for Cy Young.
3. Zimmer hits .280 and steals 40 bases.
4. We'll easily win the central.
5. Repubs will keep the house and the senate.

You mean the Vincent Kennedy McMahon walk.

You want BOLD?

1) Since this team is now an underdog again (Astros, Yankees, Cubs in media eyes) and their desire to kick everyone's ass this year, they break the 1909 Chicago Cubs record for winning percentage and win 124 games going 124-38 and a .765 win percentage. (1909 Cubs 116-36)
2) First time since 1971 that a team has 4 20 games winners and the first time since 1968 to have a 30 game winner (Kluber 31-2).
3) Only loss in post season will be game 3 in WS when Tito decides to bring Bauer in on short rest just because he has to do at least one Tito thing during the post season everyone questions.
4) Tomlin breaks Hershiser's consecutive scoreless innings streak, going 61 innings without an earned run however, still manages to account for half of the Indians losses for starting pitchers going 12-12 with a 4.99 ERA.

Division winners are all obvious this year. INDIANS, YANKEES, ASTROS, CUBS, NATIONALS, DODGERS. Only division up in the air is you could argue Redsox in AL East maybe.

My bold predictions are: Texas Rangers will be a wild card.
Miami Marlins will not have one of the top 5 worst records.

My actual bold 5 predictions:

Yan Gomes and Roberto Perez combine to become the best catching duo MLB has ever seen. Both bat above .270 and 15+ HRs a piece.

Indians surpass the records in pitching they set last season. Also there isn’t a starter at the end of the season with an ERA over 4 including Tomlin.

They have 3 guys in the Cy Young race all season.

Davis hits above .250 and steals 30+ bases and the Indians lead the league in stolen bases overall.

They are the team of destiny and win it all for Cleveland. Next season there will be changes, but for now they win it all.

Realistically this team is weaker than both the 2016 and 2017 models. No need for a bold prediction. A good season will be winning the division again before Miller departs. Lindor will be traded in 2020. The best hope is to win the division and hope for a miracle in the playoffs. It could happen but I don’t know if the hunger is still there. Up 3-1 in 2016 was likely the best shot this decade.
