Cleveland Browns Quarterback Position

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Josh Allen
Easy.

Success - First Names
What could make him fail? - No Surname

Sam Darnold? I mean cmon....just drop the D already and join the future pro-bowl club.

Ironically I dropped the D on your Mom last night.

(is a Mom joke the same as name calling?, and Mar you know its all in good fun)

Meant the guys who are supporting Allen even some of the guys who don’t like Allen say he has pro potential just not worth the number one pick lol

I think he’s worth the #1 pick.

If we were picking in a vacuum, you’d obviously like a little more value for a project guy but QBs get forced up the board every year. I guess I’m just used to the thought of overpaying for one at this point.

Alright coach, I’ll bite.

Tell me in two words, what is your favorite thing about Josh Allen.

Then, in two words, tell me what it is that could make him fail.

Two words for each only.

Heck, let’s do it for all 4 of the big four QB prospects.

We’re playing a game.

2 good words and 2 bad words only huh? Alright..

Josh Allen
Good - Big arm
Bad - Everything else

Josh Rosen
Good - Pure passer
Bad - Douche bag

Baker Mayfield
Good - Hee hee
Bad - Lincoln Riley

Sam Darnold
Good - Dick Hammer
Bad - Bad Face

If I had to pick a slogan of the draft season, this would be it

The amount of excuses for the guy’s blatantly poor play is simply remarkable

If I had a slogan to pick, it would be arrogance.

A lot of social media "experts" try to one up each other's hot take about how bad they think Josh Allen is. When it comes out that the NFL is a lot higher on Allen than they are, what's the reaction? Is it to ask "are they seeing something that I'm missing?" Nope. It's "those stupid old dinosaurs are stuck in their football guyz ways that they haven't seen the truth in the numbers like I have."

Those same experts fall over each other to heap praise on Rosen. When it comes out that the NFL is a lot lower on Rosen than they are, what's the reaction? Is it to ask "are they seeing something that I'm missing?" Nope. It's "those stupid old dinosaurs can't handle the scary millennial and are afraid he might be too smart."

That shit is lazy, anti-intellectual, and arrogant. I have no issue with people who attempt to see both sides and end up on the opposite side of a debate from me. I actually like that because it helps me gain opposite perspective (for example, I can absolutely see why people prefer safer options to Allen). I have a big issue with people who just think that those that disagree with them are uninformed, less intelligent, outdated, etc.

And this draft cycle, it's been everywhere and worse than ever to the point where it's become unbearable. When people are looking up a guy's JUCO and fucking JV stats to try to keep their confirmation bias strong, it's gone too far.

I don't know.

I'd like to see if NFL guys are actually high on Josh Allen or if this is all just manufactured, for whatever reason.

Watched a Joel Klatt clip and he was just absolutely dumbfounded as to why Allen is considered a top prospect. Said he was easily #4 or #5 on his list of QBs and that there is no way he should be #1. Listed all his reasons and it was hard to argue with it at all. Yet he is one of the only media pundits I've actually heard come out and speak hard against Josh Allen.

Either way, it's okay to think the guy has potential. He does. But I think arguing taking him #1 over guys like Rosen and Darnold is just indefensible. But whatever.

I think that is mostly just a joke.

Spectre I actually respect your opinion. I disagree with it wholeheartedly and I don't see the reason to take the chance that Allen can correct his flaws when there are other QBs that in my opinion are far less flawed who don't have lower ceilings (we also disagree here).

But you went through and broke down the film of what you liked and what you didn't like. And I respect that. I have also put in the effort early on in this process and put in some gifs of Allen from 2 game tapes and I know it takes a lot more time than it appears to (takes me long because 98% the gif making sites are blocked at my job).

As far as the thinking that people in the NFL are stupid. I do think a lot of guys are extremely stuck in their ways and refuse to adapt to literally any new information that isn't what they were always brought up with. Seeing all of the terrible reaches on guys like Tebow, Manziel, Ponder, Locker, etc over the years I think it's fair to question why the NFL continues to not learn from some of these mistakes.

Will I actually have to attend the draft to get the real feel of how the speed of the draft is?

It depends on how slow you are. Now I don't want to accuse you of being mentally challened because I hate to see a grown boy shed crocodile tears. But you have been quick to claim that there is no one getting drafted #1 in the draft but your boy. You claim to know what Dorsey is saying and thinking and even know what his facial expressions mean. You have been beating this horse to death for months. The really sad part is that you actually believe in your own pathetic mind that more than ten people care what you think. What I like even more is that you know Allen has a better chance at being drafted #1 and there is not a damn thing you can do about it. No matter how much you stamp your feet and keep hollering, Allen is getting a ton of press because a shitload of people think that Joshy will be the first pick of the Browns. I hope he isn't, but the draft people don't care what you or I think. But if it happens, I will have one big ass grin. I hope the draft doesn't sneak up on ya bub. Kinda like one of Joshy's fastballs you hate so much.:beaten:

If I'm Joel Klatt and that is my reaction, I would instantly know that I haven't done enough homework on Allen. There is no reason that the NFL should (potentially) consider a guy a top prospect and have it be dumbfounding to me if I'm an analyst worth my salt.

I can make the #1 overall pick argument for each of the four top quarterbacks in this class. I don't agree with those takes necessarily but I know what they are and I can see the angle that allows someone to think that way. It largely comes down to preference and risk aversion.

The problem is... balanced, measured takes don't get clicks.

Why do people keep saying “the NFL” as though they all believe the same thing about a prospect? As if they’re some sort of collective body.

As we blissfully discuss “arrogance” playing the biggest role in social media amateur scouting ruining the sterling reputation of the NFL, I wonder if those so offended by others negative opinions of obviously flawed players were this adamant with regards to the obviously flawed players “the NFL” considered early picks.

The Manziel’s, the Jake Locker’s, Blaine Gabbert’s.

Even the Brandon Weeden’s...

Who in the NFL considers him a top prospect. What NFL execs are coming out and telling us he's a top prospect? That's my whole point. If the argument for why he should be considered #1, is that "NFL guys are considering him #1!"....that is far from convincing, to me. And it wouldn't be convincing to him, either.

Great point. It's as if NFL GMs and player personnel types don't ever make *gasp* bad calls on prospects!

It’s incredible.

No GMs have come out and stated their affinity for the guy beyond his arm. He won’t be the first guy to be grossly over drafted based on projection and a ceiling he’ll certainly never reach.
