2018 NFL Draft - Day 2 Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sigh

This draft is tough to watch. Ward is the only pick I’ve been fully on board with.

Thomas...meh

He’s a lotto ticket. He flashes (wisky game), but honestly there just isn’t a lot to like for me in terms of consistent motor.

Thomas, to me, is a Ogbah clone. You get consistent effort, you got a player.

This is their worst pick so far. Took him too early. Okorowo and Sweat were still there.

So basically we took last years roster and have added:

QB: Taylor/Mayfield/Stanton

RB: Hyde/Chubb

WR: Jarvis Landry/Jeff Janis

TE: Darren Fells

OL: Chris Hubbard/Austin Corbett/Donald Stephenson

DL: Chris Smith/Chad Thomas

DB: Denzel Ward/Demarious Randall/Travis Carrie/E.J. Gaines/Terrence Mitchell

Obviously there is a wide range of talent there but we have really boosted our talent levels at multiple positions.

Combine those new guys with Duke Johnson, Bitonio, Zeitler, Garrett, Collins, Schobert, Njoku, Ogbah, Gordon, Ogunjobi, Kirksey.

Not exactly a pile of shit anymore. Well... at least on paper for now.

Brown is going to end up a many time pro bowler and everyone is going to wonder why he didn't get drafted earlier.

He dominated at OU, just dominated. But apparently the combine out weighs that.

Or he eats his way out of the league in a hurry? Or maybe his peak ends up being average at best? Just keeping him in shape is gonna be a headache his whole career, let alone turning him into the next Ogden.

The whole league passed on him twice, including teams like the Patriots who currently have 1 OT if they're lucky. Let's relax.

Cavs getting crushed, Browns reaching for a meh DE, Steelers getting Mason Rudolph, and Ravens getting Orlando Brown. This past hour really fucking sucked.

Two of those things are really good.

The Steelers are having a miserable draft, IMO.

Reminds me of when vontez burfict fell to the 7th because of his terrible combine and attitude.

They definitely reached for that safety in the first round. I do think they made out with Washington and Rudolph from a value standpoint though.

I like Austin Corbett as a player, but it could be wishful thinking to pencil him in as the starting left tackle this season.

If he seizes the job right away, great. But it feels like there's a reasonable chance he ends up as a multiple position backup in Year 1 before eventually winning the LT spot, or at guard or possibly even center if the Browns decide to move on from Zeitler or Tretter.

Love the Chubb pick. He runs hard, doesn't get cheated and he's not just a battering ram. Great pairing with Duke. Part of me wants him to play ahead of Hyde from the jump.

I didn't really get the Chad Thomas pick. Felt like it was a round too early, but hopefully he has enough juice to at least be a rotational guy and an improvement over Orchard and perhaps Nassib too.

The Chad Thomas pick was a head scratcher to me. I would have preferred Sam Hubbard. I think he still has alot of untapped potential.

Wtf is this?

Honestly?

We took Baker Mayfield who is an undersized QB at 1, who needs to be in the most structured offense ever inaginiable to be successful. Good luck to him in our system.

Then we reach on Ward at #4....I’m the biggest tOSU fan you can imagine....Ward is good, but #4 was a reach. He’s slight of build and struggled at times at finding the football in man coverage (lots of PI). I’m OK with the pick, as I think he can be a good pro, but #4 was ridiculous IMO.

Then we get to second round and at #33 we take a projected guard. Of all the needs we have on this team, we decided Guard was the best position to fill?......awesome.

And at #35 we went with the RB who basically cost Georgia the national title because he couldn’t get north and south quick enough. Chubb was the product of an amazing O-line this year. In fact, of the 3 Georgia RB’s (Michel, Chubb, Swift) Chubb is probably by far the least desirable NFL prospect. He just doesn’t accelerate at the speed of a top-end back and he benefited beyond belief by an O-line that dominated at the college level. Michel was amazing in national title game. Chubb sucked......that’s actually being nice. Chubb sucked...he was AWFUL.

I honestly don’t think I can imagine much worse in the first two rounds. It’s been a nightmare.......but it’s the Browns so I prob should’ve just assumed the worse.
